🇿🇦👑 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲! 👑🇿🇦

Congratulations to 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗹𝘄𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗼, who was crowned 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at the Wits Theatre in Johannesburg over the weekend of 7–9 August!

We are incredibly proud of Refilwe’s poise, passion and confidence. May she embrace every part of what makes her unique and continue to inspire others through her journey. 💃

May you wear your crown with grace, purpose and pride and always remember that your uniqueness is your strength.

Today, our Grade 11 girls had the opportunity to listen to a thought-provoking message from 𝗠𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲, who used 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵.🏺

Through the relationship between the potter and the clay, Mr Noble reminded our girls that 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁. Colour, background and circumstances do not determine our worth. Our character, choices and the person we choose to become do.

He spoke about discipline, gratitude, making wise decisions, stepping outside our comfort zones, asking for help when we need it, supporting one another and understanding that even when we feel “crushed” on the inside, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿. Just as a potter can reshape clay, we can choose to change, grow and start again.

The girls were encouraged to:
✨ Make decisions in the daylight, not in moments of temptation.
✨ Never sell themselves short or allow others to define their worth.
✨ Remember that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
✨ Work on the inside first “upward before outward.”
✨ Support and encourage one another.
✨ Take responsibility for their choices and their future.
✨ Never think they are finished, there is always room to grow.

Drawing on 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗮𝗵 𝟰𝟱:𝟵, Mr Noble reminded the girls of the relationship between the potter and the clay: sometimes we don't understand the shaping, trimming and changing, but there is purpose in the process.

No two pots are exactly alike, and neither are we. What matters is what we allow our experiences to shape us into.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. 💪💙

Our 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟭𝟭 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 embraced the spirit of Mandela Week by collecting non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, stationery and hygiene products for the children cared for by 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆. 💙

We are proud to see our girls living out the values of compassion, generosity and service by giving back to those in need.

🎨 𝗔 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🎨

Today, we had the privilege of welcoming 𝗠𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲 to Girls High for two powerful and thought-provoking sessions, one with our learners and one with our educators.

Using two paintings as metaphors, Mr Noble shared a message that went far beyond the canvas. With only one brush used to create both paintings, he reminded our girls that every life is a work in progress, a masterpiece still being shaped.

For our girls, his message was one of 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲. He encouraged them to choose their friends wisely, remember that their worth is not determined by the opinions of others, trust the journey they are on, and never give up when they find themselves in the “valleys” of life. His powerful reminder? 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽, 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘.🌱

He reminded them that just as an artist does not abandon an unfinished painting, they too should not give up on their own story. Growth takes time, difficult seasons shape our character, and sometimes we need to look beyond the darkness to find the silver lining. Each of us is a 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.

During the staff session, Mr Noble turned the brush towards another important canvas: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀. He spoke openly about trauma, the importance of dealing with our own wounds, and how unresolved trauma can affect the way we interact with others, especially the young people entrusted to our care.

His message to our educators was a powerful reminder to 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲. When we take care of ourselves, we are better equipped to create safe, caring spaces where our girls can grow.

From the learners to the educators, today's message was simple but profound:

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝗻.🌟

Thank you, Mr Noble, for reminding our Girls High family that difficult chapters do not have to define us, and that there is always hope for a beautiful next brushstroke.

At Girls High, we have the privilege of shaping girls into confident, compassionate and capable young ladies who are ready to make their mark on the world. While they may one day leave our gates, we hope they always carry 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 in their hearts, a reminder of where they found their voice, built lifelong friendships and discovered the strength to dream boldly.

Being a woman is about lifting others, leading with kindness, standing with courage and embracing every challenge with grace. Never underestimate the impact you can have, because when women support one another, inspire one another and believe in themselves, there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Our Grade 12 learners spent Mandela Week making a meaningful difference at Amelia Nasorgsentrum.

They donated non-perishable food, toiletries, and beautifully knitted blankets made by our Girls High learners as part of our annual Blanket Competition, an initiative that reminds us that warmth is meant to be shared with those in need. 💙 ❄️

The girls also supported the residents by purchasing some of their handmade artwork, celebrating their talents while giving back in a tangible way.
