MULTISURE KANNALAND RUGBY CHAMPIONS CUP POSTPONED TO EARLY 2027

Multisure Corporation (Pty) Ltd and the Multisure Kannaland Local Organising Committee (LOC) hereby wish to inform clubs, players, supporters, stakeholders and the broader community that the Multisure Kannaland Rugby Champions Cup, originally scheduled to take place on 24 and 26 September 2026, has been postponed.
The tournament will now take place towards the end of February or the beginning of March 2027. The new dates will be confirmed in due course after the SWDRFU league fixtures for 2027 have been announced.
The decision has been necessitated by the current weather conditions in the Ladismith area, the resulting condition of the playing field, as well as the fact that further rainfall is forecast for the days leading up to the tournament, which is expected to further worsen the current condition of the field.
After careful consideration, Multisure Corporation and the LOC considered a number of possible alternatives. It was ultimately decided that the most responsible and practical course of action at this stage would be to postpone the tournament, rather than wait until the last minute when clubs, players, supporters and other stakeholders may already have incurred further costs and made travel and other arrangements.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment this postponement may cause, particularly to the six participating clubs, their players and supporters, as well as everyone who had planned to attend the tournament.
We wish to emphasise that the Multisure Kannaland Rugby Champions Cup has not been cancelled. It has merely been postponed as a result of circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the organisers.
Our commitment to the tournament, the six participating clubs and the communities of the Kannaland region remains unchanged.
From the outset, our vision has been to establish the Multisure Kannaland Rugby Champions Cup as an important annual rugby and community event for the region. To achieve this, we require a rugby field and other facilities that are in good condition, and unfortunately, this is not currently the case. Both parties, however, remain fully committed to this vision and look forward to presenting an exciting and memorable tournament in early 2027.
We would like to thank the participating clubs, officials, sponsors, community members and supporters for their understanding and continued support.
Further information, including the confirmed new tournament dates, will be communicated as soon as the necessary arrangements have been made and the dates finalised.
