Alumni Tech Trails | Jonéll Botha
Every career journey starts with a single opportunity. For Jonéll Botha, that journey began shortly after graduation when she joined an IT shop as a sales assistant. Five months later, she took her first step into software development through a C # Developer internship, a move that would shape the start of a promising career in technology.
Today, Jonéll is a Full Stack C # Developer at FarSoft Solutions, where she develops software solutions that support fruit packhouses in managing and streamlining their packing operations.
Her role combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and innovation to help deliver technology that drives efficiency within the agricultural sector.

Alumni Tech Trails | Makabongwe Siziba
From the halls of Nelson Mandela University to shaping ICT governance at a national level, Makabongwe Siziba has built a career defined by leadership, innovation, and public service excellence.
After earning his Master of Philosophy in Information Technology Governance, Makabongwe played a pivotal role in the review and development of the Public Service Corporate Governance of ICT Policy Framework (Version 2), working closely with multiple cabinet structures to strengthen ICT governance across South Africa's public sector.
Today, he serves as the Chief Information Officer at FASSET (Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority), where he leads digital transformation initiatives and positions technology as a strategic enabler of organisational success.
With 18 years of experience in Enterprise Governance of ICT, governance, risk, and compliance, his expertise is supported by globally recognised certifications including CGEIT, COBIT, PRINCE2, and ITIL. Among his notable achievements are the development of the Public Service Corporate Governance of ICT Policy Framework and the launch of the FASSET Atang App, a platform designed to connect young people with career opportunities in the finance and accounting sector.
His commitment to excellence culminated in earning the prestigious Chartered Chief Information Officer (C-CIO(SA)) designation, while his continued service on boards, advisory structures, and ICT committees contributes to the advancement of the broader technology ecosystem.

From building a strong academic foundation to leading financial information systems across the Eastern Cape, Yamkela Mehlomakulu is proof that purpose, perseverance, and passion can shape an extraordinary career.
Currently serving as Chief Director: Financial Information Systems at the Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury, Yamkela has over 16 years of experience in IT governance, risk management, cybersecurity, SAP systems, and digital transformation. Her journey has seen her make an impact in both the public and private sectors, holding leadership positions at PwC, EY, Assupol, Engen, and other leading organisations.
As a lifelong learner, she holds a Master's degree in IT Governance, Risk & Assurance and is currently pursuing a PhD in IT Governance, continuing her commitment to advancing technology and governance in South Africa.

From the lecture halls of Nelson Mandela University to influencing gambling regulation across Africa, Zuko Phandle continues to make a remarkable impact in the industry.
As Manager: Audit and Compliance Division at the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, Zuko leads three critical units responsible for inspections, law enforcement, responsible gambling, public education, audit and compliance services, as well as gaming control and regulatory affairs.
Holding a Master of Philosophy in IT Governance from Nelson Mandela University, he has established himself as a respected thought leader in gambling regulation, responsible gambling, and technology governance.
His expertise has been recognised on regional and continental platforms, including speaking and panel engagements in Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, and numerous industry webinars focused on regulatory transformation, emerging technologies, and responsible gambling.
