The NEXUS event today was a huge success.

The CCT team visited Atlas Security Company, where we received an insightful briefing on the company’s origins and its role in safeguarding Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas through surveillance systems, dispatched personnel and vehicles, as well as routine neighbourhood monitoring.

We were then taken through the Atlas Control Room, where we met the team and observed how they work together to monitor Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage, with dedicated teams assigned to specific areas.

A significant part of the visit focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in surveillance. We learned how AI is used to monitor properties and neighbourhoods, detect suspicious behaviour, identify recurring patterns linked to criminal activity, and even predict potential incidents based on previous data and trends.
