We’re incredibly proud to see Banele Njadayi featured in The Herald ahead of his debut solo exhibition, MAYIYE, opening at Art on Target Gallery on 28 August.

MAYIYE explores memory, movement, identity, migration, motherhood, healing and the enduring resilience of black life through paintings, charcoal drawings and mixed-media works.

Banele’s artistic journey is one we have had the privilege of witnessing and nurturing, and we are excited to share this important milestone with our community.

Seeing & Making is a brand-new weekly creative journey designed to awaken your powers of observation, encourage fearless experimentation, and help you discover new ways of making art.

Led by artist Adèle Fouché, these sessions move beyond traditional drawing to embrace mixed media, expressive mark-making, colour, layering and playful exploration. It's a space to try, discover, question and create, where every mark becomes part of your own evolving visual language.

Whether you're taking your first creative steps or reigniting a long-neglected practice, you'll be encouraged to look differently, think differently and make with confidence.

Join artist Goldie Higgins for a fun and inspiring 𝐓𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐤 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 and discover how an everyday Tetra Pak carton can become the starting point for beautiful original prints.

Using simple engraving and printmaking techniques, you'll learn how to create texture, ink your plate, and produce your own series of hand-pulled prints to take home.
