Congratulations to ALL who took to the mats this weekend at the Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Nationals 2026 AND to those of our dojo students who gave of their time to work the tables and/or Ref! Outstanding commitment and very much appreciated.
We had a small group of 4 students competing and they each got to bring home some 'bling' 🥇🥈🥉, 7 in total!.. but even if not you are all champs! I trust all had fun and came away having LEARNT something..that being the main aim always. Again, CONGRATS💪🏼
I am super proud🙏🏻🌟

I again had a fantastic opportunity to present a Self Defence workshop, this time representing TBS Services, a crime prevention training provider. I got to guide and help two lovely groups of women to not only find their VOICE but to empower themselves with the correct MINDSET of awareness, and knowledge of at least some SIMPLE but EFFECTIVE tools to handle themselves in unsavoury situations. Learning to protect yourself should not be an afterthought, EVERY WOMAN or MAN should equip themselves!
THESE ladies again proved that everyone HAS IT in them..it just needs to be brought out and practiced again and again. SAY NO to being a victim of crime! 💪🏻

Last night was a super obstacle sweat session pre some seniors taking to teaching Kata as if to white belts. . Teaching skills are important as truly makes one rethink and explore the basic movements again when explaining to less experienced students.

While I still can, I will always take on an opportunity! 🙏🏻 One more league to go for 2026💪🏻

A peak at the great fun had while tackling the sometimes tough subject of How NOT to BE A VICTIM that we had at the Women's Day Self Defence workshop this past weekend! A huge thank you to Amber Kitching & Jacqui de Aveiro from F45 Training Morningside for hosting this in their beautiful gym & for inviting me from Kiryoku Dojo , giving me the opportunity to work with the awesome ladies in attendance!
🙌🏻It was fantastic seeing the growth in confidence & seeing these women finding their POWER & VOICES by the end of this session! 💪🏻💪🏻A big thanks to the two strong men Jarod van Wyk & Kyle who helped to Pressure test moves as it is without a doubt imperative in training EFFECTIVE Self Defence techniques...those ladies worked HARD to make it work. Well done to all and I look forward to the next time!
