Welcome back to all our wonderful little learners! We hope you had a beautiful break and are ready for another term filled with curious minds, busy little hands, happy hearts and plenty of adventures.

There’s something so special about those first little footsteps through the gate after the holidays. Familiar faces, excited stories to tell, friendships waiting to continue and so much still to discover. 🌱

To our returning children, we’re so happy to have you back.
And to any little ones beginning a new chapter with us, welcome to the Woodlands family.

Today we celebrate the very special person at the heart of Woodlands Montessori. 🤍

For 18 beautiful years, Claudia has poured so much love, patience and passion into creating a place where little minds can grow, explore and feel at home.

Your kindness touches so many little lives, and the care you give to every child and family who walks through the Woodlands doors is something truly special.

A very hungry little visitor made his way into Holiday Club… 🐛🍎

Inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar, our children spent the day creating, threading, cutting, sticking and bringing this much-loved story to life in their own way.

And while those little hands were very busy having fun, there was plenty happening behind the scenes too. Threading beads encourages fine motor control and hand-eye coordination, while cutting, sticking and creating give children the freedom to practise concentration, coordination and creative expression.

At Woodlands, even a favourite story can become an opportunity to touch, make, explore and learn. 🌿

Because sometimes the loveliest learning looks a whole lot like play.

To all our Woodlands little ones, we hope your school holiday is filled with slow mornings, big adventures, plenty of play and lots of beautiful memories made along the way.

To our families travelling over the break, travel safely and enjoy every moment together.

And to our Holiday Club kiddies… you’re not getting rid of us just yet! We’re looking forward to more playing, exploring, discovering and holiday fun with you.

It isn’t that every child is expected to learn something completely different. It’s that children are given the space to move through learning in a way that considers their stage, interests and readiness.

The educator is still there to teach, introduce, observe and guide. But little by little, the child is encouraged to take greater ownership of the process.

To choose.
To try.
To practise.
To discover.

Because sometimes the most valuable part of learning isn’t simply knowing the answer. It’s developing the confidence and independence to work out how to find it. 🤍

That’s a little of the Montessori difference.

Okay, grown-ups… are you brave enough to play? 😂👀

We want to find out just how well your little one really knows you!

Ask them the six questions on our graphic and write down exactly what they say. No helping, no correcting, and absolutely no reminding them that you are not, in fact, 87 years old. 😂

Some answers might make you laugh.
Some might leave you wondering what happens in that little head all day.
And one or two might just melt your heart. 🤍

Then come back and share your funniest, sweetest or most unexpected answer in the comments. We can't wait to hear them!

Is your little one ready for their next big adventure? 🌿

Choosing a school is about so much more than finding a classroom. It’s about finding a place where your child feels safe to explore, encouraged to try, and free to grow into the little person they are becoming.

For 18 beautiful years, Woodlands Montessori has been nurturing curious minds, building confidence and celebrating the individuality of every child.

Our Montessori environment offers children opportunities to learn through hands-on discovery, meaningful activities and the freedom to develop at their own pace, with caring educators guiding them along the way.

Walk into a Montessori classroom and you may notice something a little different. Not every child is sitting with the same activity, completing the same task at the same time.

Around the room, there are different opportunities to pour, sort, count, trace, build, match, explore and discover.

Some children may be deeply focused on their own work. Others may be learning alongside one another. And sometimes, two little minds come together to create something entirely their own. 🤍

What may look like simple play is often filled with opportunities to practice concentration, coordination, language, early maths, fine motor skills and problem solving.

And perhaps that's one of the loveliest things to notice:

Learning doesn't always have to look the same to be meaningful.

Sometimes it's quiet.
Sometimes it's colourful.
Sometimes it's shared.

But there's always something being discovered. 🌱

Why are different ages together in a Montessori classroom? 🌱

It’s one of the things that makes a Montessori environment a little different, and there’s a beautiful purpose behind it.

Children learn so much from simply being around one another. A younger child may watch an older friend complete an activity and think, “I want to try that too.” An older child may have the opportunity to help, demonstrate or encourage and, in doing so, strengthen their own confidence and understanding.

It creates a natural little community where children experience different roles as they grow. Sometimes they’re the one watching and learning. Sometimes they’re the one showing and helping. And sometimes, they’re figuring it out together. 🤍

Along the way, they’re developing more than academic skills. They’re practicing patience, empathy, responsibility, confidence and cooperation in everyday moments.

Different ages. Different strengths. One community.

Because sometimes, one of the best people for a child to learn from... is another child. 🌿

You may have heard the word Montessori before, but at its heart, it's about something beautifully simple: trusting children to be active participants in their own learning.

Rather than expecting every child to learn in exactly the same way or at exactly the same pace, Montessori creates an environment where children can explore, practise, make choices, repeat activities and discover things for themselves.

The teacher's role is not simply to tell a child what to do. It's to observe, guide, encourage and provide the right opportunities for each child to grow.

And that's where the little things become so important. Pouring their own water. Choosing an activity. Caring for their environment. Trying something again when it doesn't quite work the first time.

These moments may seem small, but they're helping children develop something much bigger: confidence, concentration, independence and a genuine love of learning. 🌱

At Woodlands Montessori, we believe children deserve the time, space and encouragement to discover just how capable they are.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can say to a child is:

"You can try. I'll be right here." 🤍
