In Part 2 of our Push Movements Tech Talk, Grant and Kim break down one of the biggest components of strength training: the push.
Kim’s pick? Bench press — the king of all push movements. 👑
Grant’s choice? Dumbbell chest press.
But there’s more to pushing than just pressing a weight.
In this episode, we cover:
🔹 Horizontal vs vertical pushing — understanding the different movement patterns and how they train your upper body.
🔹 Triceps as an accessory — why they matter and how to use them to support your main pushing movements.
🔹 Grip width matters — narrow grips tend to shift more emphasis toward the triceps, while wider grips generally place more emphasis on the chest.
🔹 Push movement variations — including dumbbells, different grip positions, pauses and tempo work.
🔹 Pausing & tempo — how manipulating the movement can make a familiar exercise significantly harder and improve control and strength.
Whether you're training for strength, building muscle, or simply trying to understand your movements better, this episode breaks down why you push the way you do.

So… what exactly does this machine do?
The U310 gives us a much bigger picture of your body composition than simply stepping on a scale.
We can track things like:
📊 Body fat
💪 Skeletal muscle
💧 Total body water
🦵 Segmental muscle distribution
🔥 Visceral fat
⚡ BMR
…and more.
Most importantly, we can use these measurements to track changes over time.
That means we're not relying on the scale alone to decide whether you're making progress.
Because sometimes the scale doesn't tell the whole story.
More information = better decisions.
Sumo vs Conventional… should they really be in the same category?
Grant & Kim get into the debate, breaking down the differences between the two and Grant’s take on whether sumo should have its own category in powerlifting.
And yes… frog deadlifts make an appearance too.
When you're good you're good lol
Strength isn't just something vou have , it's a skill vou need to learn.
In one of our latest Tech Talk, Grant & Kim chat about different hinge patterns and deadlift variations, and why understandina the movement matters when it comes to getting stronger.

We're seriously excited to introduce our U310 Body Composition Analyser to the studio.
Because your progress isn't just about the number on the scale.
We're going to be able to look at your body composition and track your progress over time, giving you more information about what's actually happening beyond body weight.
And yes… we're opening up our first assessment week soon. 👀
Keep your eyes peeled.
