Throwback Thursday to the memories from this term where our Grade 11s spent many hours working to create a magnificent night for our Alex class of 2026 at their Matric Dance. During decor week, the Grade 11s cultivated friendships and shared special moments. This forms a key part of their preparation for taking over the leadership of the school.

Our Drama and Music departments are an integral part of preparing our learners not only for our school productions and musical events, but also on the local and national stage. This can be seen by the number of Alexans, Old Alexans and Alex staff that are currently involved in the production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, now showing at the Savoy Theatre until the 10 October.

From dancing on stage to playing in the band, from being a part of the background crew to musical direction and choreography, Alexans are always proud to show of their skills beyond our school walls.

Support our Alexans by going to see this much loved musical, created by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Tickets available at the link Webtickets:

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting 28 professionals from various careers talk to our grade 10 and grade 11 Alexans as they attended their Careers Evening. With each Alexan attending three sessions of their choice, they took this opportunity to learn valuable information, hear real life experiences and have industry questions answered by working professionals in their respective fields. From IT, physiotherapy, mechanical engineering to teaching, pharmacy, police work, graphic design and everything in between, our students appreciated learning about the different career options

Five music pupils had the opportunity to travel to Bloemfontein recently, to play with the Rhapsody Orchestra - a community orchestra based in Bloemfontein.

After a demanding week of nightly rehearsals, morning performances at various primary schools, visits to sites of historical and artistic significance, and the challenge of keeping up with tests and homework, Liam Meyer, Ukhonaye Gaula, Jenna Goss, Phoebe Campher, and Katoka Milemba joined the orchestra for its spectacular concert, Sentimental Cinema, at the Sand du Plessis Theatre - performing to a sold-out audience of more than 900 people and sharing the stage with 80 musicians from across South Africa, including Johannesburg and Cape Town, as well as 200 choristers drawn from schools and communities throughout Bloemfontein.

The adventure is a collaboration between the Rhapsody orchestra and Alex, facilitated by Mr. Heinrich Lategan and Mr. Dario Broccardo and ably assisted by Mr. Grant Meyer. The first of many, we look forward to a healthy future of music making opportunities with the greater South African music community.
