The second Annual Drama Showcase was another successful evening highlighting top performances from the Grade 10, 11 and 12 Dramatic Arts learners.

The showcase started as an initiative of the class of 2025, and has grown to be an occasion that Drama learners work towards, where they can share what they do in the classroom with family and friends.

The learners delivered exceptional performances and set the bar high for showcases to come!

Alexans, Lolwethu Nxopo and Lubabalo Gunguluza, travelled to Sun City last week to participate in the Summa Cum Laude International youth music festival and competition as members of the prestigious Eastern Cape Youth Choir.
They walked away with a 2nd position receiving a gold certificate Level 3 (Masterful), between 90-94%

The festival brought together children's and youth choirs, orchestras, and bands from around the world for workshops, competitive performances, and cultural exchange. It was the first time the event was held on African soil and marks the Eastern Cape Youth Choir's debut competition.

Massive congratulations to all in the choir and especially Lolwethu and Lubabalo for waving the Alex flag high!

Last week, our Alexan guitar learners were treated to a fantastic lunch hour guitar concert at the Nelson Mandela University Music Department, featuring some familiar old Alexans.

Last week the Drama Department was treated to an incredible presentation from Jo and Genna Galloway from the Waterfront Theatre School in Cape Town. They shared invaluable industry insights, provided detailed information on their arts education programme and instilled a real passion in our learners for their futures.

Alex is extremely proud of Nerisha Ramsamy, who received the highest score in the Eastern Cape for the Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) Olympiad. What a star! Geluk, Nerisha.

An unforgettable night for the Alex Class of 2026! Our Grade 12s celebrated their Matric Dance in absolute style, looking breathtakingly elegant and bringing incredible energy to the dance floor.
