So sad to hear of the passing of our classmate, Mark Nel. This is Warren Muller's post - so beautifully described. RIP Mark...
I heard tonight of the death of my friend Mark Nell. Mark (far left), is pictured in this photograph taken many years ago while he was studying at PE Technikon and I (far right) was at U.P.E. I have fond memories of the braai that we were at that evening.
I first came to know Mark when we were both very young, living in Humewood. We struck up quite a close friendship since we had similar interests especially with regards to rugby and cricket. He was affectionately known as 'the secretary’ a nickname he picked up from recording all our scores in different exercise books while we played cricket daily on the beachfront as young boys. He founded our own Humewood cricket club and even had a yearly prizegiving for us.
Mark and I had another close connection we attended all rugby and cricket games of Eastern Province played at Boet Erasmus and St. George’s Park. We were great fans and knew all the players off by heart. In subsequent years we kept up the friendship and he even moved into a flatlet off my sister’s house in Mill Park.
Mark was also passionate about his Christian faith and knew his Lord intimately. At the time of his death he was busy writing a book on the history of music which was another passion of his. Mark, is survived by his cousin Simon. He is in my thoughts tonight. Please keep him in your prayers.
I sure am going to miss you my friend! Thank you for your friendship, and all the sports we played and watched together over the years. Thank you for your love for Jesus too!

Congratulations to our classmate, Riana Visser Vd Merwe on being the 1st Master's Female in the 100km Skyrun last weekend. SkyRun is a self-supported and self-navigational race, where athletes tackle the remote terrain of the Witteberg Mountain range with a map, a compass or GPS unit and a back pack containing all their food, water and compulsory equipment that will enable them to survive in this harsh environment. Hectic stuff!

On Remembrance Day - thinking of our classmate JP Hall who was killed on the border in 1985. Still remembered by the school every year with a wreath in the foyer.
Thinking of our class mate Greg Saunders whose brother Mark (Rocky) passed away this morning after a battle with cancer. He was certainly a Pearson legend! RIP
If you're anywhere near Somerset West today - Pearson have a sport Derby against Perel Vallei from 10:00. They would love your support!
