Dear parents , learners and the Walmer community

Walmer high school has noted with deep concern viral posts on social media about the school principal, Mr Sitsheke. The recent circulating posts alleges that Mr Sitsheke has impregnated a learner at the school among other things.

The school and its SGB wishes to clear the following:

1. The learner’s name being mentioned in the posts does NOT study at Walmer high school nor has she studied at the school before.
2. ⁠Mr Sitsheke says he has NO knowledge of the learner/ person & therefore has not impregnated her or any learner before.
3. ⁠The school, the department of education nor the police have NOT received any complaint about Mr Sitsheke of this nature.
4. ⁠Any person (parent or learner) who alleges there is a sexual relationship, impregnated learner or serious allegation about Mr Sitsheke is encouraged to come forward and report the matter, either to the school or department of education.

The school further notes with concern that similar social media trends were circulating in February and April this year about Mr Sitsheke. Currently we have NOT received any complaints of any kind.

We need to be vigilant regarding posts which are posted by anonymous people & recently created accounts on facebook as they have the potential spread unverified, inaccurate information. Such posts have the potential of tainting a person image. The account that initiated these allegations was created on the 28th of September 2026.

The school’s SGB views this as a distraction for learners as they prepare to start their final NSC exams on the 13th of October 2026.

The SGB strongly urges parents, learners and the public to verify the sources & accuracy of the information before posting/sharing on social media platforms.

We further encourage learners and parents to report serious matters of this nature using established correct channels.

Bazali, please take note. ALL grade 9 learners are expected to be at school as they need to complete their GEC (General Education Certificate) assessments with their respective subject teachers. This does NOT exempt other learners from other grades from attending, school continues as per normal for other grades too.

Today, 20 incredible young voices from Walmer Township begin the journey of a lifetime as the masifunde Youth Choir departs for Germany! ✈️🇿🇦🇩🇪

For many of these talented learners, aged 14–18, this will be their very first flight and their first time leaving South Africa. Over the next two weeks, they will perform in cities across Germany, sharing the rich sounds, stories and spirit of South Africa through music.

From prestigious gala performances to cultural exchanges with German school choirs, this tour is about so much more than singing. It is an opportunity to build friendships, experience new cultures, and proudly represent their school, community and country on an international stage.

We are incredibly proud of every choir member, as well as choir conductor Leseko Mkhwanazi and masifunde Programme Coordinator Siba Sarabi, who will join the tour and also perform as a guest artist during selected concerts.
