Africa International Teaching Week | Highlights

From 28 September to 2 October 2026, the Faculty of Health Sciences was proud to host and participate in Africa International Teaching Week, bringing together academics, students and colleagues to explore new approaches to teaching, learning and the future of healthcare education.

The week created space for meaningful conversations around technology and innovation, interprofessional and transdisciplinary learning, ethics, sustainability, curriculum renewal and socially accountable healthcare.

Across the week, participants had the opportunity to share knowledge, challenge perspectives and collaborate across disciplines, while considering how we can continue to shape more innovative, inclusive and socially responsive approaches to health professions education.

Thank you to all the speakers, academics, students, colleagues and collaborators who contributed to Africa International Teaching Week 2026.

While the programme has come to an end, the conversations and connections created throughout the week continue.

📢 Short Learning Programme | Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) Adherence

The Pharmacy Department is offering the Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) Adherence for Pharmacy Personnel and Primary Healthcare Providers short learning programme.

💻 Fully online | No contact sessions
📅 1–31 October 2026 OR 1–30 November 2026
💰 R800

The programme covers HIV/AIDS epidemiology and pathophysiology, HIV treatment in South Africa, ART adherence, barriers and interventions, adherence counselling, and practical tools for supporting patients.

Participants will complete structured online lessons, short multiple-choice quizzes and a final multiple-choice assessment.
