The Faculty of Science is proud to have attended the Coding 4 Africa Tournament at Father's House, on 6 August, joining young learners for a day of coding, problem-solving, teamwork and fun! 🚀

The Coding 4 Africa initiative uses engaging, game-based activities to introduce learners to coding and computational thinking — showing them that technology and innovation are for everyone.

It was inspiring to see young minds putting their creativity, curiosity and problem-solving skills into action while embracing the spirit of collaboration. 🧠💡

The Nelson Mandela University Faculty of Science was proud to participate in the 2026 Learner Career Summit, where we engaged with Grade 8 and 9 learners, showcasing the exciting opportunities available within science and STEM careers.

🔬 Inspiring the Next Generation of Scientists!

As part of National Science Month 2026, the Nelson Mandela University Faculty of Science proudly collaborated with the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists to ignite curiosity, innovation and scientific thinking among young learners.

Hosted at the Indoor Sports Centre on the Nelson Mandela University: Missionvale, Campuses, the Expo brought together 300 learners who showcased innovative research projects, engaged with academics and industry professionals, and explored exciting opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The programme featured interactive presentations, scientific demonstrations and project judging by Nelson Mandela University academics, providing learners with valuable insight into the world of science and research.

Together, we are inspiring future scientists, innovators and problem-solvers.

What an incredible two-day journey of discovery, innovation and inspiration!

Hosted at Ntyatyambo Primary School in Peddie, National Science Month 2026 brought together learners, educators, researchers, exhibitors and partners to celebrate the transformative power of science, technology and innovation.

From exciting hands-on demonstrations and interactive exhibitions to engaging panel discussions and career guidance, more than 900 learners each day had the opportunity to explore the endless possibilities within STEM.

These photos capture just a glimpse of the energy, curiosity and collaboration that made this year's event such a memorable success. Every conversation, experiment and demonstration helped inspire young minds to dream bigger and see themselves as the scientists, engineers and innovators of tomorrow.

A sincere thank you to all our Faculty of Science departments, exhibitors, speakers, partners, organisers, marshals, volunteers, caterers, teachers and learners for making this event a resounding success. Together, we proudly lived this year's theme:
