🏛️ MOTHERWELL HIGH MAKES ITS MARK ON THE NATIONAL MOOT COURT STAGE 🇿🇦
National Schools Moot Court Competition 2026
Motherwell High School is incredibly proud to announce the outstanding achievement of our Moot Court team, Aqhama Nomabhunga and Acwengile Josh Mahe, who represented the school with distinction at the 2026 National Schools Moot Court Competition.
After competing against schools from across South Africa, our team fought their way through the national rounds and reached the Top 8 schools in the country, progressing all the way to the Semi-Finals.
Although the team narrowly missed out on a place in the final, their journey to the national Top 8 is an achievement worthy of immense pride. They demonstrated exceptional preparation, confidence, research, legal reasoning and oral advocacy throughout the competition.
The national programme culminated at the Constitutional Court at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg on 4 October 2026, placing our learners on one of South Africa's most important constitutional stages. The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development notes that the programme brings together learners from across the country and develops their understanding of the Constitution, human rights and the rule of law.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to their dedicated mentor teacher, Mr Leanya, whose guidance, mentorship and commitment played an important role in preparing the learners for this prestigious national competition. He has exposed our learners to valuable life experience outside the classroom which will define the rest of their lives.
From the provincial rounds to the national stage, these young men have represented Motherwell High School with determination, courage and pride.
