Meet Olona โ€œLonaโ€ Rawu, the Community Outreach Director of the ABSIP Nelson Mandela University Student Chapter and a Diploma in Economics (Extended) student.

As Community Outreach Director, Lona hopes to strengthen ABSIPโ€™s connection with the communities around us by initiating meaningful and impactful projects that bridge the gap between students and the broader community. Her vision is to encourage students to use their skills, knowledge, and opportunities to create positive change beyond campus.

Meet Carla Noxolo Kasala, the Secretary of the ABSIP Nelson Mandela University Student Chapter and a Diploma in Economics student.

During her term, Carla hopes to contribute to the legacy already built within ABSIP-NMU while helping foster a space where students can connect, grow, and discover a greater sense of purpose. As Secretary, she brings a commitment to organisation, collaboration, and ensuring that the chapter continues moving forward.

๐ŸŽ๏ธโ›ฐ๏ธ Outside academics, Carla has a wonderfully diverse range of interests. From following Formula 1 and enjoying hiking and golf, to art and horse riding, she enjoys experiences that challenge her, keep her curious, and allow her to appreciate the world from different perspectives.

Meet Kamogelo Angel โ€œKamoโ€ Mashigo, a Finance & Investment Sub-Committee Member of the ABSIP Nelson Mandela University Student Chapter and a Diploma in Economics student.

During her term, Kamo hopes to create opportunities that help members grow academically, professionally, and personally through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and meaningful engagement. She is passionate about bridging the gap between university and the finance and investment industry by supporting initiatives that expose students to industry professionals, practical skills, and career opportunities.

As Treasurer, Qhamisa aims to strengthen transparency and accountability within the chapterโ€™s finances while creating more opportunities for member engagement. She hopes to introduce structured budgeting tools, explore innovative fundraising ideas, and support workshops that make financial knowledge more practical and accessible to students.

Meet Othandwayo โ€œOthiโ€ Masala, an ABSIP Women in Focus Sub-Committee Member and a BSc student majoring in Biochemistry, Microbiology & Physiology.

During her term, Othi looks forward to collaborating with fellow members and helping organise events that are both informative and enjoyable. She is also excited to learn, challenge herself, and grow as an individual through her experiences within ABSIP.

๐Ÿงถ Outside academics, Othi is a creative at heart. She enjoys crafting and creating decorative and useful items by hand, from pottery to knitting. She also loves baking and exploring her creativity through food.

Meet Thandeka โ€œNongceboโ€ Mchunu, a Secretary Sub-Committee Member of the ABSIP Nelson Mandela University Student Chapter and a BA Development Studies student.

As part of the Secretary Sub-Committee, Thandeka is passionate about strengthening communication between ABSIP members and the Executive Committee. During her term, she hopes to contribute to effective coordination by ensuring members are kept updated, attendance is properly recorded, meeting minutes are maintained, and valuable feedback from meetings and events is communicated.

๐Ÿ“š Outside academics and society activities, Thandeka enjoys reading books and playing tennis. Her interests reflect her belief in continuous learning while also making time for activities that bring balance and enjoyment.
