Sunbeams Preschool and Aftercare

We are very sad to announce that after 27 amazing years of teaching children in Port Elizabeth, SUNBEAMS PRESCHOOL AND AFTERCARE will be closing at the end of this 2024 school year. However, at the same time we celebrate all the precious children who have walked through these doors since 1997, and we honour all the success stories we have heard when we have run into past students in shopping centre's, other venues, and even when you have brought your own children and young relatives back to Sunbeams. You are the Legacy of this school. A huge thank you to Carol Mills and all the teachers, especially Connie Jenneker (26 years of service) administrators and committee members on whose shoulders this amazing ministry was built.

What a blast we had on Friday! I laid out cardboard, paper, buttons, sequins, glitters, glue, scissors and told the children to go for it! They were to be as creative as they wanted, with the only caveat being that they had to use the items they took. Wow, what magnificent creations came out of the day! We had birds, masks, handbags, binoculars, tablets. Helicopters, caterpillars, robots. Absolute stars. And I really had nothing to do with their work. Pictures below.

We have been talking about our local heroes - people who help us in our communities. Today, Warrant Officer Mitchell and his team from Mount Road Police Station came to visit and teach us about all the things that the police do to help us. Thank you for a special morning. We also made our own police officers.

Yeehaw cowboys! Using our imagination

We've been learning a little bit about space. So we made out own "Space Plates".
And we practiced our cutting skills too.

Castles and Knights, Dinosaurs and Cowboys... we're using our imagination to learn.
