What a wonderful day of celebrating the beautiful diversity of our amazing country! 🌈

Our little Sunridge friends had so much fun dressing up, learning about different cultures and, of course, tasting all the delicious snacks and treats that were shared. 😋

It was so special seeing our little ones experience and celebrate the many different cultures that make South Africa such a wonderful place to call home. 🇿🇦

We love South Africa and all its wonderful diversity! ❤️💛💚💙

📚✨ Celebrating Literacy Week at Sunridge Pre-Primary! ✨📚

What better way to celebrate the wonderful world of books than with a little magic, imagination and storytelling! 🐷📖💫

Our learners were treated to a fabulous visit from Aunty Abi from My Magic Words, who brought the story of The Three Little Pigs to life with a wonderfully dramatic and entertaining story session! 🐷🏠🐺 The children were captivated from beginning to end and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the story.

And the excitement didn’t stop there! Each child had the special opportunity to choose and buy their very own book to take home. 📚❤️ There is something truly magical about a child choosing a book that is theirs and discovering the joy of getting lost in its pages.

A love for reading is something that should be nurtured, encouraged and treasured. It opens little minds, sparks imagination, builds language and lays the foundation for a lifelong skill that will support children throughout their lives. 🌈✨

A huge thank you to Aunty Abi for sharing your storytelling magic with us and making Literacy Week so memorable! And a heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful parents for supporting this initiative and allowing your children to choose some special books of their own. 💕📚

🌸Spring has sprung at Sunridge Pre-Primary! 🌸

The sun was shining, the sky was blue,
And our little Spring stars looked amazing too! ☀️🌼

With creative hats, so bright and fun,
Our kiddos were ready to enjoy the sun! 👒🌸

A picnic of goodies, delicious and sweet,
With happy little faces and plenty to eat! 🧺🍓

And thanks to your seedlings, our gardens now glow,
With flowers and colour all starting to grow! 🌱🌺

So here’s to Spring, to sunshine and cheer,
And all the beautiful moments we’ll treasure this year! 💚🌼

In the Whales 🐋 Grade R class, we start each morning with a prayer. We have now also learned an Afrikaans prayer🙏, and we are so proud that we learned it so quickly. We loved our Fruit and Vegetables theme. We even tried a fruit that was new to most of us. Yummy dates 😋 🌴

We've had a roarsome 🦕 couple of weeks learning about dinosaurs.🦖 Our budding paleontologists have discovered dinosaur fossils in the playground, made dinosaur masks and claws. We watched a big bunch of bananas🍌 ripen from green to yellow. Then we shared with all our friends in the school and our little chefs👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 made a yummy banana and jelly dessert. In amongst all this fun we've been building with geocubes, making pictures on pegboards, learning about the past, present and future. We are so excited to be learning about books📚 next week and we can't wait for My Magic Words to come and visit our Sunridge Pre-Primary school.

Learning Through Play 🦖

Jellyfish (3–4 year olds) are not designed to sit still and learn! They are designed to explore, move, discover and PLAY — and through all of this, they are developing the skills they need for formal school. 💛

Our Jellyfish have had so much fun learning all about dinosaurs! 🦕🦖 From roaring like a T-Rex to exploring, creating and discovering, every activity has been a chance to learn while having fun.

Because at this age, play IS learning! 🌈✨

Winter Warmers with the Dolphins! 🥶🍲💙

The Dolphins kept the winter blues away by making a delicious vegetable soup that warmed both their tummies and their hearts! 🥕🥔🍅🫛
Each learner brought an ingredient or two, and together, they turned their collection of veggies into a delicious, homemade soup. Along the way, they discovered that cooking involves so many of the skills we practise at school — counting, measuring, following instructions, and, of course, learning about kitchen safety! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 They also made a picture recipe of everything that went into the soup so that they could make it again at home.📝
Perhaps the biggest lesson of all was learning that vegetables aren’t so bad after all! 🌽🥦 The Dolphins discovered that it’s always worth trying something new before deciding whether we like it. By the end, they all agreed… vegetables can be DELICIOUS! 😋
And just to reassure everyone — no little fingers were harmed in the making of this soup! 😂 Photos were carefully staged, and all those little hands were gently guided and closely supervised when knives were involved. 🔪💙
What a wonderful, hands-on learning experience — and a tasty one, too! 🌟

Breaking the Rules was WAY too much fun! 🤩🎉

The teachers at Sunridge Pre-Primary School will never be the same again after all the excitement! We absolutely loved seeing the weird and wonderful outfits that filled our classrooms today – mismatched socks, different shoes, back-to-front clothes, crazy hairstyles, and so many creative ideas!

We even spotted a few sneaky chips, chocolates, and sweet treats hiding in lunchboxes… but in the spirit of BREAKING THE RULES, we turned a blind eye! 😉🍫🍟

A huge thank you to all our parents for embracing the fun and helping make today such a memorable day for our little ones. The smiles, laughter, and excitement made it one of the best days of the year!
