Residence visits and sensitisation on equality-related complaints play an important role in creating safer, more inclusive, and respectful campus communities. Through the Transformation Office at Nelson Mandela University, students are encouraged to understand their rights, recognise discrimination and inequality, and know where to access support.
Social justice mediation and peacebuilding are equally important in addressing conflict constructively, promoting dialogue, restoring relationships, and building a culture of respect and understanding.
Together, these initiatives contribute to a university environment where equality, dignity, inclusion, and social justice are actively promoted and protected.

Growing Through Support ๐ฑ
Creating safe spaces for healing, growth, and meaningful conversations. Our Anti-GBV Growth Support Group Sessions, facilitated by the Transformation Office Anti-GBV Counsellor, remind us that support, understanding, and connection can make a difference.
Together, we can foster a community where everyone feels heard, supported, and empowered.

Reflecting on Q***r Connect Games Day on the 23 of July 2026 ๐๐ฏ๐น๏ธ๐ฒ
Q***r Connect Games Day was a meaningful celebration of community, inclusion, friendship and belonging at Nelson Mandela University. Hosted through the Mandela Pride Portfolio within the Transformation Office, the event created a safe and welcoming space where students could connect, have fun and celebrate their identities beyond the classroom.๐
The games and activities brought people together in an atmosphere filled with laughter, teamwork and positive energy. More than just a day of games, Q***r Connect reminded us of the importance of creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ students and allies can feel seen, respected and valued.โจ
The team is proud to contribute to building a university community that embraces diversity and challenges discrimination. Events like these remind us that transformation is not only about institutional change, but also about creating genuine connections and a sense of belonging.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, supported and contributed to making Q***r Connect Games Day a success. ๐ฒ
Together, we continue to build a more inclusive, affirming and proudly diverse Nelson Mandela University. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
And weโre not stopping here! ๐
Weโre looking forward to more games, more connection and more opportunities to celebrate community. Our next Q***r Connect Games Day will be on 26 September 2026! ๐๏ธ๐
We canโt wait to see you there. ๐คฉ
