We had such a great time with our Community Fire class held last week!

🔥 Fire Awareness Workshop at Sunshine Life Centre 🔥

🧯 Safety starts with knowledge! 🧯

8 of our Sunshine Life Centre clients had the opportunity to attend an Informative and Practical Fire Awareness Workshop, facilitated by Wouna Fall Du Plessis, alongside Safety Officers Firefighter De Wee and Firefighter Tsitsi.

The workshop covered important fire safety knowledge, including different types of fires, fire prevention measures, and the different types of fire extinguishers. Our clients learned how to recognise which extinguisher is suitable for each type of fire, as well as the important precautions to take before attempting to put out a fire.

The session also included hands-on practical training. Participants were taught how to safely use fire extinguishers to put out a fire, as well as how to use the fire truck's water hose. They learned about the different water settings on the hose and how to use them effectively while protecting themselves when approaching and fighting a fire. 🚒💦🔥

It was an empowering and educational experience that equipped our clients with valuable Fire safety knowledge, practical skills and confidence that can help them respond more safely in an emergency.

NSRI Station 11 Port Alfred is opening applications for our new volunteer intake! 🚤

We are looking for passionate people from Port Alfred, Kenton-on-Sea and Bushmans to join our team in a variety of roles:

🌊 Sea-going crew – get involved in operations on the water
🛟 Land-based crew – play a vital role in supporting our rescue operations from shore
🤝 Fundraising Committee – help us raise the funds that keep our station equipped and operational

You don’t need to have all the answers or experience to get started — what matters is your commitment, willingness to learn, teamwork and desire to serve your community.

We're back at Sibuya Game Reserve teaching First Aid for the tour guide interns, APU members and Chefs. What an incredible privilege to teach on site. Breathtaking views and even an elephant in the mix!

Did you know?

We have had over 150 people walk through our doors for community First Aid Training. This is a service offered free of charge to our community!

Our next course will be all about Fire Awareness! We're so excited!

On 2nd July, 6 of our clients had the valuable opportunity to take part in a First Aid Workshop — gaining practical knowledge and skills that can make a real difference when it matters most.

The workshop was expertly facilitated by Wouna Fall Du Plessis , an Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Paramedic and founder of LifeFirst Response. We are grateful for her time, knowledge and commitment to empowering others with essential life-saving skills.
