Ian West is a highly accomplished fashion designer with expertise in creating unique and innovative designs. West's aptitude for fabric and structure materialized at a young age. During his childhood, he devoted his Sunday afternoons to inventing dazzling draped dresses for his sister from sheets. He solidified his studies in fashion technology when he attended Wits Technicon and GFD Academy of Fa

shion, under the mentorship of Gordon Flack Davidson. West has created numerous couture pieces for Miss South Africa and Miss World presenters, as well as an abundance of wedding dresses. In addition to his work in the fashion industry, West has also conducted many charitable acts such as job creation projects, where local women were trained in design and garment contraction, as well as his own Ian West Academy of Design in Swaziland with a focus on pattern making and design. For the past few years, West has been involved in several fashion houses, including Rosenwerth, where he learned the delicate techniques of haute couture, with Elzbieta Rosenwerth, and Errol Arendz, a renowned Cape Town designer. With Arendz’s guidance and support, West developed his own style and design ethic. His collection includes evening gowns, summer dresses, and various other mini dresses. The philosophy behind Ian West Couture is centered around free flowing, body conscious design. He draws his creative inspiration from individual clients, fused with pop culture and current events. West’s ready-to-wear collection features unique silhouettes and proportions he creates by playing with different colours, textures, and materials. Ian West Couture is designed for a woman who is confident in wearing her dress, not allowing it to wear her.

Dear Students,

We are excited to announce that the StitchCraft sewing and pattern drafting classes will commence on the 4th of July 2023 at Stenden South Africa, starting at 6 PM and concluding at 8 PM. This session will be the Onboarding Class, where we will introduce you to the course and prepare you for the upcoming sessions.

As part of the onboarding class, we will also have a Q&A session where we will address any questions or concerns you may have. We understand that it is essential to establish a clear understanding of the course material and objectives before diving in, and we want to make sure you feel equipped to begin the journey.

We look forward to seeing you on the 4th of July to start this incredible journey of learning the art of sewing and pattern drafting. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
