The Forgotten Tomorrow

We spoke of stars we’d one day reach,
Of wisdom time would surely teach.
But in the rush of fleeting now,
We broke the promise, lost the vow.

The seeds we swore we’d gently sow
Were left to wither, left to go.
We built with haste, we dreamed in dust,
And traded vision for quick trust.

The children asked what dreams we kept,
We turned away, we barely wept.
Their skies grew dim, their hopes grew thin,
For we forgot what lies within.

Tomorrow knocked, but none replied
Too loud the noise, too deep the pride.
And now it waits in silent ache,
For hearts to stir, for minds to wake.

So let us not forget again,
The cost of comfort, ease, and gain.
For every day we fail to see
Is one more lost to memory.
