One of the things we are conscious about is our mother tongue. That's why we encourage our radio students to broadcast in their mother tongue. Not all of them, by the way, will work at Metro FM or YFM. There are amazing opportunities for vernacular presenters in our SABC radio stations in every province for example.

Besides, the moment we realise you are just not comfortable broadcasting in English, we discourage you from making a fool of yourself and focus on that which you are good at- vernacular presentation.

A lot of young people are lost trying to be what they are not on air. We don't want our students to fall into the same trap.

Young people must know that a vernacular Radio Personality is just as cool and fashionable. They earn big money too by the way (check stations like Ukhozi FM).

Let's be honest with each other and produce market ready graduates, comfortable in their presentation, more so in mother tongue.
