As an Early Childhood Development practitioner, I have observed a growing concern that requires our collective attention.
In many young children today (ages 4–6), there is an increasing challenge in the development of speech, language, and effective communication skills.

While each child develops at their own pace, research in early childhood development consistently shows that language acquisition is strongly influenced by environment, interaction, and exposure to meaningful communication.

One contributing factor that cannot be ignored is the increased use of digital devices such as televisions, smartphones, and tablets. Although these tools have their place, excessive and unregulated screen time often reduces opportunities for children to engage in verbal interaction, which is essential for speech development.

It is therefore important that we, as parents and caregivers, return to foundational practices that support healthy communication development:
Engaging children in daily verbal conversations
Encouraging storytelling, reading, and singing
Asking open-ended questions and allowing responses.
Creating screen-free interaction time at home
Prioritising human connection over digital distraction.
Children learn to speak by being spoken to, listened to, and involved in meaningful dialogue.
Let us work together intentionally to support our children in building strong communication skills, confidence, and school readiness.

Today our little stars enjoyed a fun-filled exercise and sports activity session! 🎉
Through play, movement, and teamwork, our children are developing important skills while having lots of fun. 😊
These activities help children develop:
⭐ Gross motor skills – running, jumping, balancing, and coordination
⭐ Listening skills – following instructions and understanding directions
⭐ Social skills – sharing, teamwork, and encouraging friends
⭐ Confidence – trying new activities and believing in themselves
⭐ Concentration and focus – staying attentive during activities
⭐ Physical strength and fitness – keeping their bodies active and healthy
⭐ Balance and coordination – improving body control and movement
⭐ Emotional development – learning patience, discipline, and sportsmanship
At our preschool, we believe children learn best through play and active movement. 💙
A healthy body helps build a healthy and confident mind!
