Out of the many ways we can grow in life as human beings, Peter points us to something greater when he says “rather.” The rather introduces a unique and powerful way to grow. It reveals not just another option, but the better way to grow.

“Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to Him, both now and forever! Amen.”
— 2 Peter 3:18

True growth is found in growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. As we grow in Him, our faith becomes stronger, our understanding deeper, and our lives more effective for His purposes.

Bible College is not only for those who desire to go into full-time ministry. It is for anyone who wants to grow deeper in their faith, understand the Word of God, and become more effective in their walk with Christ.

It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”

Ephesians 3:14-21
New Living Translation
Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[a] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[b] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
