State prosecutor Advocate Nduduzo Jiyane read out a witness statement about what happened. The witness said he saw Mabasa and her partner get out of an e-hailing car and start arguing, apparently about cheating.
From his balcony, the witness said he saw Ntsanwisi slap Mabasa more than once. He then saw the man pick Mabasa up and slam her onto the ground. Fearing for her life, the witness told his wife, “This man is going to kill her.”
The witness said he went to knock on their door but got no answer, so he forced his way inside. There, he found Ntsanwisi on the floor, bleeding from a stab wound.

In her bail affidavit, Mabasa explained that she is the main provider for her family, has no passport or past convictions, and is currently studying. She promised not to run away, threaten witnesses, or interfere with the investigation.
After reviewing both sides, the magistrate granted Mabasa bail of R10 000 with conditions. She must report to Midrand Police Station once a week. Until the bail money is paid, she will remain in custody.
