🎨 Artist Showcase | Marianna Meyer

For Marianna Meyer, photography and painting are closely connected, with each inspiring the other. A contemporary abstract artist and fine art photographer, she draws inspiration from life, memory and her own experiences of what she describes as Kintsugi, or “golden joinery”.

Marianna paints from memory and imagination, bringing together the inner and outer worlds. Her work explores beauty, simplicity, the ideal and the imperfect, using acrylic, oil pastel, pastel, pencil and mixed media.

We’re delighted to have her work included in our collection of more than 40 artworks, raising funds for the Olive Tree Bursary Fund. 🌿

🎨 Artist Showcase | Retha Alberts

For Retha Alberts, painting began as a way to navigate a new chapter in her life.
After the sudden passing of her husband, Retha relocated to Oman for a new career opportunity. During the intense summer heat, she spent more time indoors and discovered painting as a way to express her emotions and observations of human behaviour. Her first art lessons came from YouTube.

Since 2018, Retha has gone on to participate in professional art exhibitions in Muscat, Cape Town, Worcester and Plettenberg Bay.

We’re so pleased to have Retha’s work included in our collection of more than 40 artworks, raising funds for the Olive Tree Bursary Fund. 🌿

🎨 Artist Showcase | Stanley Grootboom

Stanley Grootboom is a South African visual artist, author, curator and cultural archivist whose work is deeply connected to Indigenous South African heritage, local landscapes and the preservation of community histories.

Born in Coldstream in the Tsitsikamma region, Stanley’s artistic journey began in the forest, where he carved driftwood into sculptures before teaching himself to draw and paint. Today, his multidisciplinary practice includes oils, watercolours and mixed media, with a particular focus on documenting what he describes as the “living village”: rural communities whose traditions, stories and ways of life are at risk of disappearing.

He is also an author and illustrator, with a particular focus on preserving Indigenous languages and stories.

We’re honoured to have Stanley’s work included in our collection of more than 40 artworks, raising funds for the Olive Tree Bursary Fund. 🌿

After a few decades away from painting, Su West has recently picked up a paintbrush again and is thoroughly enjoying exploring the world of watercolours. Her artistic practice is a lovely contrast to her professional work in ceramic conservation and restoration.

Su’s paintings leave space for the viewer’s imagination. Rather than telling you exactly what to see, her work invites you to find your own story, memory or meaning within each piece.

🎨 Artist Showcase | Tarryn Muller

We’re so excited to feature the work of Tarryn Muller as part of our Raphaeli Art Auction, raising funds for the Olive Tree Bursary Fund.

Creativity has always been an important part of Tarryn’s life. Her artistic journey began at school, where she was introduced to fine art and oil painting by her art teacher. She developed a particular fascination with African-inspired themes, exploring the people, landscapes, textures and stories of the continent through colour and paint.

After years of painting and selling her work, Tarryn eventually stepped away from art, finding commissioned work had taken away some of the freedom she associated with creating. After moving to Plettenberg Bay last year, the creative spark began to return.

Tarryn has since returned to painting and discovered pottery, allowing her to explore creativity through curiosity, expression and the process itself.

We’re so pleased to have Tarryn’s work included in our collection of more than 40 artworks. 🌿
