St Benedict School

St Benedict School IEB Independent Co-Educational Catholic School in KwaZulu Natal. Not dampening their spirits, temporary classrooms were found at Gelofte Skool.

On January 22, 1956 in a little place close to Mariannhill called Pinetown, the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood opened a tiny school in an old wood-and-iron house with only 32 pupils. This was the humble beginning of an educational facility that has grown to become a flourishing school in the area, with a present enrolment of 400 students

Tragically in November 1971 a fire swept through the school, destroying many classrooms in the primary school. The Parent-Teacher Association under the Chairmanship of Mr Chris Phillips undertook the task of rebuilding the school. In a great spirit of solidarity with the sisters and loyalty to the school, the classrooms were rebuilt over the Christmas holidays. The new classrooms were ready for use in the new school year of January 1972. St Benedict School lives up to its patron’s ideal that everyone is special in God’s eyes and deserves to be respected, loved and cared for a community of equals and friends.

🐷🕷️ CHARLOTTE’S WEB DAY! 🕸️🐖

The Grade 4s have been learning all about Food and Farming in Social Sciences this term, while enjoying the much-loved classic Charlotte’s Web in English.

To bring both topics together and round off the term, we celebrated with a fun-filled Charlotte’s Web Day! The children came to school dressed as characters from the book and enjoyed a whole host of exciting activities.

Some of the favourites included making Wilbur and Charlotte biscuits, the Chocolate Game, Steal Someone’s Tail, a Blind Animal Search, and the Animal Families Card Game.

There was plenty of laughter, creativity and fun throughout the day. What a wonderful way to end the term! 🐷🕷️💙

During Religious Education classes last week, our Intermediate Phase pupils took part in a series of fun games and activities that reminded us of something wonderfully simple: God designed us for human connection. ❤️

Through their activities, the pupils explored three important ways we connect with one another:

👀 Make eye contact
👂 Listen to one another
💬 Speak face to face

In a world where screens and devices are such a big part of our daily lives, it was a wonderful reminder of the importance of putting our devices down and being truly present with the people around us.

Here’s to real conversations, meaningful connections, eye contact, listening and plenty of face-to-face communication! ❤️

❤️ Sharing God’s Love Across the Grades ❤️

Yesterday, our Grade 6S pupils visited our Pre-Primary School to share with our little ones what they have been learning this term about God’s love for each and every one of us.

It was a lovely opportunity for our older pupils to lead, teach and share their faith, while our Pre-Primary children listened, participated and enjoyed spending time with their older SBS friends.

These special moments remind us that faith, learning and community truly grow when we share them with one another. ❤️
