IEB Independent Co-Educational Catholic School in KwaZulu Natal. Not dampening their spirits, temporary classrooms were found at Gelofte Skool.

On January 22, 1956 in a little place close to Mariannhill called Pinetown, the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood opened a tiny school in an old wood-and-iron house with only 32 pupils. This was the humble beginning of an educational facility that has grown to become a flourishing school in the area, with a present enrolment of 400 students

Tragically in November 1971 a fire swept through

We apologise for the break in transmission of our regular Flashbacks, but our 70th birthday festivities have kept us all rather busy! 🎉

But we’re back — and we’re ready to take you on a trip down memory lane through the last 10 years of flashbacks, from 2014 to 2024! 📸✨

We’ll be sharing at least one, and possibly two, Flashbacks every week, so keep an eye on this space as we revisit the people, moments and memories that have helped make St Benedict School what it is today.

The Simple Joy of Jelly… 💛

Up on The Island, we learnt the “j” sound this week – and what better way to bring it to life than by making “j”elly! 😋

Our little people measured and mixed using “j”ugs, explored different temperatures, had a little taste along the way, and watched with fascination as the jelly transformed in the fridge. We even added “j”elly babies, who “j”umped “j”oyfully into the jelly! 🧸

And the best part? All the “j”iggles, wiggles and giggles when we finally got to eat our delicious creations! 💛🍮✨

We are very grateful to Mr and Mrs Reddy of Africa Armature Winders for their generous sponsorship of soccer kit for our 1st Team Soccer boys.

Your generosity and support mean so much to our school and our young athletes. Thank you for helping our boys take to the field with pride! ⚽👏

One of our Grade 3 themes is “Around the World”, and this week our young travellers journeyed to England! 🇬🇧

The children enjoyed a traditional English High Tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches and freshly baked cream scones. They dressed in their finest outfits for the occasion and had the opportunity to put their newly learned tea-time etiquette into practice. ☕️

A wonderful way to learn about another culture while having plenty of fun along the way!
