Meet Woinshet Hailmichaed, affectionately known as Fyisa, a Precept Institute student in Ethiopia whose encounter with God through His Word came at just the right time.

After becoming a single mother of five, Fyisa leaned deeply into what she was learning about her heavenly Father and her place in the world as His disciple. As she grew in her knowledge of God and His Word, she also began to discover new ways to use the gifts He had given her.

A talented chef, Fyisa turned her skills into a catering business – one that today enables her to provide for her children and has even opened the door for her to cater Precept conferences and events!

Her story is a beautiful reminder that knowing God deeply can change the direction of a life. What began with studying His Word became a journey of discovering her identity, purpose and provision in Him.

We’re so encouraged by Fyisa’s story and grateful to see how God is faithfully at work through His Word!

🎉 Happy New Year, Ethiopia! 🇪🇹

No, you’re not imagining it—the New Year is here! Well, at least it is for our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia! 🇪🇹✨

While much of the world is still getting used to writing 2026, Ethiopia is welcoming 2019! 🎊

Ethiopia follows the Ethiopian (Ge’ez) calendar, an ancient calendar that is about 7–8 years behind the Gregorian calendar used by most of the world. And it’s not just the year that’s different—Ethiopia has 13 months: 12 months of 30 days, followed by a short 13th month called Pagume, with five or six days.

So, as Ethiopia enters a brand-new year, we celebrate with our brothers and sisters and pray that 2019 will be a year of God’s faithfulness, fruitful ministry and growing knowledge of His Word. ❤️📖

Amina Nakaweesi joined the Precept Institute as a new believer, barely knowing where to find different books in the Bible. Today, she can name them from memory and serves in the marriage ministry at her church. For Amina, studying God’s Word has brought transformation not only to her faith, but also to her marriage.

While studying Marriage Without Regrets, Amina learned Biblical principles that challenged her own approach to marriage and helped restore her relationship with her husband. Having experienced that transformation herself, she now uses what she has learned to help other couples. Most recently, she was able to encourage her brother and his wife, who had been living separately, and witnessed their reconciliation.
