Some of these ideas really challenge the way we've perceived child rearing as a community and provide a good basis from which to prepare our children to become healthy learners and successful adults.

Recently we published a post about South Africa's struggling reading levels with the comparison on a global scale. From a more positive angle, solutions to South Africa's education crisis do exist, and New Korland Academy plans to be a part of it.

Instilling a healthier relationship with maths and sciences in South African learners should begin at an Early Childhood Development (ECD) level. While results in KZN have improved over the past few years, much more needs to be done to scrape us off the bottom of the barrel.

In order to foster this change in our young learners, New Korland Academy has partnered with Experi-Buddies to develop a healthy interest in the sciences. We look forward to creating the change we want to see!


According to the Gauteng DOE, in 2015, most Grade R learners were not ready to enter the formal schooling system at the end of their grade R year.
