🏅 Rydalvale Primary School Represents Phoenix at Friendship Games

On 29 August 2026, learners from Rydalvale Primary School proudly represented Phoenix at the Friendship Games held in Tongaat.

Our talented learners participated in different age divisions:

🏐 Under 11 Division

* Zanokukhanya – Grade 5A
* Joanne – Grade 5B

🏐 Under 13 Girls Division

* Kaitlyn – Grade 7B
* Thandowethu – Grade 7A

The learners competed against teams from Tongaat, Pietermaritzburg and Chatsworth, displaying excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, determination and school spirit throughout the games.

We are extremely proud of our learners for representing Phoenix and Rydalvale Primary School with such enthusiasm and commitment. Their participation is a wonderful reflection of the talent and potential within our school.

👏 Well done, Zanokukhanya, Joanne, Kaitlyn and Thandowethu! We commend you for your dedication and for proudly carrying the Rydalvale name.

Today, Rydalvale Primary School was filled with inspiration, excitement and BIG dreams as our learners had the opportunity to explore different careers and learn from professionals who are making a difference in their communities. 💙💛

Reading for Meaning Competition 2026

Rydalvale Primary School was proudly invited by EThekwini Libraries, District 2, to participate in the Reading for Meaning Competition 2026. The competition is an initiative designed to support and uplift learners in the area of reading comprehension. It aims to nurture a love for reading, improve literacy skills and build the confidence of learners who require additional support.

On 3 September 2026, our school was represented by Areesa Hoosain in this meaningful competition. Areesa participated with enthusiasm and confidence, demonstrating her reading, comprehension, pronunciation and communication skills.

She prepared diligently for the competition and showed great commitment throughout the process. Her participation provided her with an opportunity to challenge herself, develop her confidence and showcase her abilities in reading and comprehension.

We are extremely proud of Areesa for representing Rydalvale Primary School and commend her for her hard work, dedication and positive attitude. We hope that this experience will continue to inspire her to develop a lifelong love for reading.

Rydalvale Primary School was proudly represented at the Mathematics Games held at Northlen Primary School. 🧮

The event provided learners with an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their mathematical knowledge, problem-solving skills, accuracy and confidence in a competitive environment.

Our learners performed exceptionally well across the various Mathematics Games:

- Math-a-Move: Ishani Ramdani – 2nd Place, Grade 1
- Maths 12: Ishani Ramdani – 1st Place, Grade 1
- Maths 12: Victoria Ann Reddy – 2nd Place, Grade 1
- Maths 20: Victoria Ann Reddy – 3rd Place, Grade 1
- Maths 20: Danae Govender – 4th Place, Grade 3

These achievements are a reflection of the learners’ dedication, enthusiasm and growing confidence in Mathematics. Their participation also highlighted the importance of developing mathematical thinking through engaging and challenging activities.
