The wheels are turning, the themes are going up, and the competition is officially getting serious. 😅

We're on a mission to raise R120 000 — and right now we're sitting at R9 300. Which means… we still have a mountain to climb. But have you met our Saffier families? We don't do "impossible". 💪

Here's how you can jump in:

🍕 PARENTS — every rand counts, and every rand goes to your child's class total. The class that brings in the most money wins R1 000 towards a PIZZA FUN DAY at school. Yes, real pizza. Yes, at school. Yes, your child will remind you about this every single day until 6 November. 🙂

🏆 LEARNERS — the learner who brings in the most money walks away with a BIG prize. Not a small prize. Not a medium prize. A BIG one.

🤝 BUSINESSES — we would love to have you on board! Sponsor a class, sponsor a cart, sponsor a prize. Your support goes straight back into our school and our learners, and our whole community will see it. Get in touch with the school office — we'll make it worth your while.

School-paid position: Substitute - Gr.4-7. 1-23 September, with possibility of extension to 11 December.
Candidate must have the necessary intersen phase qualification, be SACE registered and have a police clearance. Good classroom management and maintenance of discipline is a requirement. Candidate must be able to teach all intersen subjects in English and Afrikaans. Mention the use of e-learning and administrative duties that you have already performed. Also indicate what experience you have with learners with special needs/barriers to learning, as well as knowledge of the SIAS policy. On this National Women’s Day, Saffier Primary School proudly honours the remarkable women who form such an important part of our school and wider community. We think of our educators, support and administrative staff, cleaners, mothers, grandmothers, guardians and every woman who gives her time, care, wisdom and strength to help our learners grow.

On 9 August 1956, approximately 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, leaving a powerful legacy of courage and determination. Today, we remember that history while also recognising the quieter, everyday strength shown by the women around us — in classrooms, homes, offices and communities — as they teach, guide, protect, encourage and nurture the next generation.

To all the wonderful women in the Saffier family and beyond: thank you for all that you are and all that you do. We wish you a meaningful and beautiful Women’s Day. 🌸

Saffier Primary School is extremely proud to congratulate one of our old learners, Caleb Africa, affectionately known at Saffier as “Twakkie”, on his selection for the Blue Bulls Schools U/18 Academy Week.

What an incredible achievement! Your hard work, dedication and talent continue to open doors, and we are so proud to see you grow from a Saffier learner into a young rugby player making his mark.

🌴 Happy Retirement to a True Legend, Ms. Ohna! 🌴

After an incredible 35 years of dedication, love, and inspiration, we are bidding a fond farewell to Ms. Ohna. For over three decades, she has been a guiding light and a profound role model for all of us at Saffier Primary School.

To Ms. Ohna, the Grade R playground and classrooms were never just a workplace; they were affectionately known as "Her Island"—a safe, magical place where foundational memories were made.

Over 1,000 learners have passed through her doors, and she has left an indelible mark on every single one of their lives. She poured her heart into ensuring that each child was not only ready for the road ahead, but prepared and brave enough to take on the rest of their school journey and life with confidence.

Saffier has truly lost a gem. 💎 We will deeply miss the legend that you are, Ms. Ohna, but your legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of the countless students and colleagues you’ve inspired.

Thank you for absolutely everything over the past 35 years. We wish you nothing but joy, relaxation, and the absolute best in this exciting next chapter! 🥂✨

Congratulations to our Saffier Primary NTA Award Recipients! 🏆✨

We are extremely proud of our four outstanding teachers who were recognised at the National Teaching Awards.

Ms Oosthuizen and Ms Truter were both recognised as finalists in the category Excellence in Primary School Teaching. They each received a diploma in recognition of their hard work, dedication and valuable contribution to quality teaching and learning.

Ms Albertyn was awarded Runner-up in the category Excellence in Grade R Teaching. What a beautiful way to end a remarkable teaching career. Ms Albertyn, we will miss you dearly and thank you for the lasting difference you have made.

Mr Scheepers was named Winner in the category Excellence in Inclusive Teaching and will also be taking part in the upcoming Provincial Awards.

Thank you to all the teachers of Saffier Primary who work extremely hard every day to ensure that every learner is given the opportunity to succeed. You are all winners!
