Where Are They Now? | Our 2024 Graduates

It has been over a year since our 2024 cohort graduated. So where are they now?

They are stacking shelves. Setting tables. Assembling products. Working in online shopping departments. Maintaining buildings with precision and pride.

They are earning steady incomes. They are supporting their families. They are building lives that many people told them were not possible.

Our 2024 graduates did not just complete a programme. They changed the direction of their lives. And they are still going. ๐Ÿ’™
70% of our graduates are still employed at the 12-month mark.

That is not luck. That is preparation meeting opportunity.

Meet the Team | The Job Coach

Behind every student who finds their footing in the workplace, there is a job coach.

Our job coaches are the bridge between training and employment. They walk onto the floor with our students on day one. They stay through the awkward moments, the learning curves, the small victories that nobody else sees.

They do not just teach skills. They build confidence. They translate expectations. They advocate quietly and persistently until the employer sees what we have always seen.

This month, we want you to meet the people who make The Living Link work - starting with the job coaches who never stop showing up. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŸ ๐ŸŸข

Myth vs Fact | "Disability Inclusion Is Just a Checkbox"

Let's set the record straight.

MYTH: Companies only hire people with disabilities to tick a box for compliance or B-BBEE scoring.

FACT: Our employer partners hire our graduates because they are trained, reliable and ready to contribute. The compliance benefits are a bonus - not the reason.

At The Living Link, we do not prepare our students to be tokens. We prepare them to be teammates. Every graduate who enters the workplace has completed accredited training, hands-on job sampling, and work readiness preparation.

The box gets ticked. But the real result is a committed employee who shows up every day. ๐Ÿ’™

Spring Energy is Here. And So Are We.

We ended winter on a high.

Last month our learners took on Total Ninja Cape Town - climbing walls, swinging between obstacles and cheering each other on. No workbooks. No job sites. Just a group of young people being exactly that.

It was loud. It was fun. And it reminded us why the other stuff works. Because when you build trust, teamwork and confidence outside the classroom, it shows up inside the workplace too.
September marks the start of spring, and we are carrying that energy into everything we do this month.

New content this month: we are taking you behind the programme in ways we have not done before - from a full day in the training room to the voices of the employers who partner with us.

Let's go. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŸ ๐ŸŸข

Closing Out August | Stepping Into Spring ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒธ

August came in with a lot to say. And we were here for all of it.

We celebrated the women who marched on 9 August and the women on our team who carry that same spirit every single day. We opened our classrooms and showed you what our students are really made of. Theory. Workbooks. Practical skills. All of it.

We introduced you to the people behind our programme. The job coaches, the facilitators, the employment consultants who show up every day because they believe in what we are building here.

And through it all, our students kept showing up. In training rooms. In workplaces. In job sampling programmes across Cape Town.

Sweeping floors, assembling products, setting tables and proving every single day that they are more capable, more determined and more than you think. ๐Ÿ’™

August reminded us why this work matters. And September is already looking full of possibility, weโ€™re ready for spring.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. ๐ŸŸ ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’ฌ Myth vs Fact | โ€œThey Can Only Do Simple Tasksโ€

Letโ€™s set the record straight. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

MYTH: People with intellectual disabilities can only manage basic, repetitive tasks and need to be kept in simple roles.

FACT: Our graduates work across a range of environments - hospitality, retail, food service, office support. They adapt, they learn and they deliver. Every day.

The limitation is not in the person. It is in the assumption.
When you invest in the right training and the right support, capability shows up in places most people never expected. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‘” Student Job Highlight | Meet Noxolo. ๐Ÿ’™

Before the meeting begins, the table is set, the cups are laid out, and everything is exactly where it should be.

At Silver Town Educare, Noxolo is preparing the table and refreshments for an upcoming meeting. She is building the habits that matter in the world of hospitality work: organisation, attention to detail, and confidence that comes from taking ownership of a task.

This experience helps her build confidence, take responsibility, and gain practical workplace skills that support her for future employment.

This is what workplace readiness looks like at The Living Link. One skill, one day, one step at a time. ๐ŸŸ ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฑ Our Learners | The Journey From Day One

On day one, everything is new. The building. The people. The expectations. ๐ŸŒฑ

Many of our learners arrive having been told - directly or indirectly - that formal employment is not for them. That the workplace is too fast, too complex, too demanding.

And then something shifts. Slowly, through repetition, through support, through someone believing in them before they believe in themselves. Confidence builds. Skills take shape. A qualification is earned.

By the time they graduate, they are not the same person who walked through the door six months ago. And that is the point.
This is what investment in people looks like. ๐Ÿ’™
