UNDER-19 KAY MOTSEPE TOURNAMENT REPORT – 2026

Kgomotso High School has continued to participate in the Under-19 Kay Motsepe Schools Championship, with the team showing steady progress over the past three years.

In 2024 our team was eliminated during the group stages.In 2025 ,the team showed significant improvement by finishing second in the league.
This progress continued in 2026 when Kgomotso High School earned the opportunity to represent the municipality in Kimberley

Yesterday , the Kgomotso High School Under-19 team travelled to Kimberley early in the morning, departing at approximately 06:30 to represent our municipality.

The boys performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament. They showed commitment, discipline, teamwork and determination in all three matches. Unfortunately, despite their good performances, luck was not on our side, and we were unable to secure the results needed to progress further.

Our results were as follows:

* **Kgomotso High School 1–1 Rietvale**
* **Kgomotso High School 1–2 Mogomotsi**
* **Kgomotso High School 1–1 Boresetse**

Although we did not achieve the desired results, the team gained valuable experience competing at a higher level and representing our school and municipality with pride.

A lunar eclipse happens when Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, causing Earth’s shadow to fall on the Moon.

The alignment is:

Sun → Earth → Moon

There are three main types: total lunar eclipse (the whole Moon enters Earth’s darkest shadow), partial lunar eclipse (only part does), and penumbral lunar eclipse (the Moon passes through the lighter outer shadow).

During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon can appear reddish or orange, which is why it’s sometimes called a Blood Moon. This happens because Earth’s atmosphere filters and bends sunlight toward the Moon.

Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is safe to look at with your eyes—no special glasses are needed.

In a thrilling encounter against Tlhwahalang at Bonita Park Stadium, Hartswater, the boys fought hard to secure a 4–4 draw before showing nerves of steel in the penalty shootout.
