🌸 Celebrating Women Who Inspire | Nasionale Vrouedag 🌸

In honour of National Women's Day, a group of our Grade 9O girls had the incredible privilege of attending Capitec's Accelerate Her Future – Women in STEM event, accompanied by Mrs. Petersen.

As representatives of Calling Education, our learners were inspired by remarkable women who are making a meaningful impact in the fields of technology, data and innovation. Through their stories of resilience, determination and leadership, our girls were encouraged to dream boldly, embrace challenges and recognise the limitless opportunities available to them.

Mrs. Petersen reflected on the experience by saying:
"It was an inspiring day filled with stories of resilience, innovation and leadership from women making a difference in technology and data. The event reminded us of the importance of creating opportunities for young people, especially young women, to dream big, pursue careers in STEM, and believe in their potential. We left feeling encouraged, motivated and excited to bring these valuable insights back to our learners as we continue to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators."

Baie dankie aan Capitec vir hierdie besondere geleentheid en vir die belegging wat julle in die lewens van ons jong vroue maak. Sulke ervarings help om drome aan te wakker, selfvertroue te bou en nuwe moontlikhede vir die toekoms oop te maak.

Today, we also want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who make up the Calling Academy community.

To our mothers, grandmothers, guardians, teachers, support staff, mentors and every woman who faithfully pours into the lives of our learners—thank you. Thank you for the countless ways you nurture, encourage, lead, sacrifice and inspire. Whether your influence is seen in a classroom, at home, behind the scenes or through a simple word of encouragement, your impact reaches far beyond what you may ever realise.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Building Strong Families, Building Strong Futures

Our first Global Youth Mentorship Movement (GYMM) session of the term challenged our Grade 9 learners to think deeply about one of the greatest influences in every person's life—family.

Deur 'n interaktiewe spanbou-aktiwiteit moes leerders 'n toring bou uit verskillende "boublokke", wat elkeen 'n belangrike waarde van 'n gesonde gesin verteenwoordig het.

While teamwork and planning were essential to complete the challenge, the real lesson came during the reflection that followed, where learners considered what it takes to build strong, healthy and Christ-centred families.

Die gesprek het leerders uitgedaag om na te d**k oor die sterk punte van hul eie gesinne, watter areas versterk kan word, en watter waardes hulle eendag na hul eie gesinne wil oordra.

One of the session's most powerful reminders was that love forms the foundation of every healthy family—not merely through words, but through our daily actions, forgiveness, respect and commitment to one another.

🎉📚 Welcome Back to Term 3!

A warm welcome back to all our learners, parents, guardians and staff! We hope everyone had a restful holiday and returned refreshed, ready to embrace all that this new term has to offer.

Term 3 is already off to an exciting start, filled with opportunities for our learners to grow academically, spiritually and personally.

From inspiring assemblies and our first Career Day of 2026 to mentorship sessions and hands-on learning experiences, there's so much happening around Paarl campus.

Over the coming days we'll be sharing some of the highlights from the start of the term, as well as a few exciting events still to come. We can't wait to take you along on the journey!

Calling Academy Paarl is looking for a compassionate and committed Part-Time School Counsellor to join our growing team from August 2026.

At Calling Academy, we believe in developing learners academically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially within a Christ-centred environment. As our school continues to grow, we are looking for someone who shares our vision and values of
Purpose • Ownership • Gratitude.

What we're looking for:
✅ Qualified in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
✅ Registered with SACSSP, HPCSA, CCSA, or another recognised professional body
✅ Fluent in both Afrikaans and English
✅ Experience working with children or adolescents (school experience advantageous)
✅ Passionate about learner wellbeing and Christian education

The role includes:
• Individual and group counselling
• Early intervention and learner support
• Working closely with teachers and parents
• Referrals to external support services where required

🕒 4 hours per day, 2–3 days per week (negotiable)

As we are busy with our exam season, we would like to wish all our learners the very best. Onthou, eksamens gaan nie net oor wat jy weet nie, maar ook oor hoe goed jy voorberei.

Today, we as the Calling Academy family pause to honour and celebrate the incredible blessing that you are to our school, our learners, and our wider community.

Mr. Greyling, thank you for leading Calling Academy with steadfast faith, wisdom, humility, and vision. Your heart for Christian education is evident in everything you do. You continually remind us that a school is not only a place of academic growth, but a place where young people are discipled, encouraged, prayed for, and pointed toward Christ.
