Ebenezer Primary School was proud to host the official launch of the Modified Hockey – Paarl Hub programme on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in partnership with the South African Hockey Association (SAHA) and Paarl Hockey Club.

The event brought together participating schools from across the region, including Ebenezer Primary, William Lloyd Primary, New Orleans Primary, Orleansvale Primary, and St Albans Primary.

Designed for foundation- and intermediate-phase learners, the CAPS-aligned initiative introduces fundamental movement skills and sports participation using durable plastic sticks and balls that can be played on virtually any surface.

Attending the event were Lynn Abrahams from SAHA (also representing the Western Province Hockey Union), as well as Paarl Hockey Club development officers Gavin Cupido and Alan Julies, and player Thato Joka, alongside participating teachers.

SAHA presented modified hockey equipment to all attending schools, enabling teachers and learners to start playing immediately and making the sport far more accessible across our community.

To each and every one of our learners who took part in the Derby — WELL DONE! You gave your very best, you played with determination, and you showed us what it truly means to represent your school with pride, passion and good sportsmanship. ❤️🤍💛

From our smallest little Grade R learners all the way through to our Grade 7 learners, we saw something truly special — SCHOOL SPIRIT! We saw you cheering, encouraging one another, persevering when things became difficult, and never giving up. You showed us that being a great player is not only about winning or losing, but about giving your best, respecting others, supporting your teammates and carrying your school’s name with pride. ✨️

Remember, champions are not made only by the trophies they win or lose, but by the effort they give, the challenges they overcome and the character they show along the way.✨️

So, lift your heads high, learners! ☺️
You showed up. You gave your best. You fought until the end. You supported your team. You represented your school with pride.

And for that, WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU! 🤗

Keep believing. Keep persevering. Keep supporting one another. And most importantly, keep showing that incredible school spirit! ✨️👏

DIS LEKKER OM ‘N EBEN TE IS! 💛🤍❤️
