So, Medicine Festival PART 1 😊 …

The last month has been full-on with work travel, but I finally have a chance to share about my experiences here.
But how to squeeze those into an IG post?? It’ll have to be a few 😜 This is just the first!

Firstly, I’m so grateful that my workshop in “Becoming the Voice of Volcanoes” was well-received!

Most participants had beautifully deep experiences in meeting the spirit of Lava, despite the noise from nearby stages and spaces - there were 10,000 people at this year’s festival!

In conversations with some participants afterwards, this workshop to meet the volcanoes seemed to have really shifted things for quite a few people, on deep levels. So I decided to offer this workshop as an online class at the end of October, details in bio 🌱

Medicine Festival had such a full schedule (I had a hard time choosing what to attend!) and the site is so huge, plus I had fairly short notice schedule changes and venue changes, so I’m very grateful to those who made the effort to find me ☺️

I ended up holding the workshop at Nightingale’s Nest, which was easily my favourite stage, so often filled with both feeling-full and feisty folksong, and many familiar faces, like the delightful Sam Lee 🌈 He / Hymn who headed the creation of it ☺️

I have to say, as a presenter, I really appreciated the separate space for the artists and crew to have some care, which was its own party at times! 💃🏻

Well done Medicine Fest friends, you did a splendid job pulling off such a huge production, yet again. I know it had its many glitches, including the fire ban (the arena was so dry, it felt like AfrikaBurn!), and you worked non-stop to keep the show going.
It worked out well and it was nothing short of magical.

I hope to see you in 2028! ✨

My planned outfit was way too warm for the hot weather, so the dress I wore for the workshop was bought from a lovely stall at Medicine Festival (last photo), but I forgot their names so I’ll find it and tag them later ☺️🙏🏼❤️

One of the activism movements that Ecofluency supports is the work done by Living Limpopo and ALL RISE - Attorneys for Climate and Environmental Justice and Dzomo la Mupo to protect the Vhembe Biosphere Reserve and the Venda homelands in Limpopo.

Their work is critical because the illegal mining that is being done there is killing thousands of irreplaceable indigenous trees, including ancient baobab trees who can grow to thousands of years old, and damaging an ancient and biodiverse UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌳🐘

I don’t know why Instagram put a line across some textboxes… maybe it’s Mercury in retrograde!
