The Montessori preschool (casa)l environment directly prepares for the work in the Montessori primary (elementary) environment.

This is often why children who missed Montessori early experiences take long to adjust when they start Montessori 'late'.

Don't delay, those early years are very important.

Come annd visit to find out more.

Play isn't just something children do. It's how they learn who they are and what they're capable of.

Helping toddlers to become toilet independent can be hard for some families.

Hold those boundaries.
Have good expectations.

Supporting a child does not always mean doing more. Sometimes it means preparing thoughtfully, stepping back, and allowing development to unfold.

This Friday, take a moment to reflect on the balance between guidance and freedom.

Irene is an incredible asset to our school and she remains keen to study and become a qualified Montessori Directress.

If she did this training we could ensure a good future career for her and ensure the upliftment of her family.

With this qualification and her experience she will be able to find employment locally and oversees if she ever wanted to move.

We want to ensure she does one of the best courses available.

Please help us 🙏

Thank you😊🏵

Dr Montessori discovered that the creed of the 0 to 6 age group is 🏵Help me to do it Myself🏵

As parents and educators it is our duty to give children tools to navigate this world. Not to keep doing things for them.

Yesterday I observed this in action at a friend's house.

🏵A Beautiful Reminder of Respectful Parenting that aids the development of social independence🏵

I had the privilege of witnessing a wonderful moment in respectful parenting between a mother and her two children (a 2-year-old and a 3.5-year-old).

The 2-year-old took a toy from the older sibling, and both children came running to Mom.

The 3.5-year-old wanted to grab it back, but Mom calmly reminded her not to grab, assuring her that she would help solve the problem.

Here is how she handled it step-by-step:

🏵Clear boundaries with choices:
Mom asked the 2-year-old to come to her. When the toddler refused, Mom calmly offered a choice with gentle firmness: "You can come to me, or I can come to you."

🏵Calm follow-through:
When the 2-year-old stayed put, Mom didn't get angry. She calmly got up, picked the grumbling toddler up, and reassured him: "We’re just going to go sit and talk about it."

🏵Ownership & validation:
Sitting together, Mom asked whose toy it was and if the 2-year-old had taken it. The toddler admitted yes.

🏵Firm, respectful options: Mom explained, "I need you to give this toy back, or I can give it back. What would you like to do?"

*🏵Meeting the child in their world:
Instead of handing it over, the 2-year-old used a stick to pretend to brush the toy person's teeth, saying, "Look, I brushed its teeth!."

Rather than dismissing the distraction, Mom validated it: "Oh, it has shiny teeth! Now it’s ready for you to give back. Will you give it back now?"

The 2-year-old willingly got off Mom's lap and handed the toy right back to the older sibling.

No screaming, no yelling, no grabbing things, and no tears—just mutual respect taught, shown, and practiced in real-time.

By taking these moments to guide rather than control, we aren't just solving a temporary conflict. We are equipping our children with lifelong tools so they can resolve problems independently and guide others with the same empathy.

It takes time, and it takes patience.

But we are going to put in the time anyway—so let’s make sure we do it in respectful ways right from the start.
