Creston College, a Curro Select School that accommodates learners from 3 years old to Grade 12.

EDUCATION

As our mission statement indicates, we take our independence seriously and we are truly committed to providing an environment where children are “coached” in leadership skills. In so doing we believe Creston learners will truly appreciate the value of knowledge, vision and harmony in their own lives and in their country. Creston’s Christian ethos ensures that the values of integrity, self-discipline, independent thinking and respect are part of the fibre of the school and it is within this framework that the academics and co-curricular programmes find their shape and form. ACADEMIC

Creston emphasises high academic standards in every phase. Regular and ongoing assessment ensures that “best practice” in educational methods are employed throughout the school. In the high school, learners are prepared for the GETC in Grade 9 and the FETC. As an Curro Select School, Creston follows the IEB programme and aims to meet the IEB Grade 12 academic requirements. SPORT AND CULTURE

As part of the all-round education which Creston offers its learners, we offer a wide variety of sports, clubs and societies. Our objective is that every child explores their talent and that they learn that participation, teamwork and disciplined practice are the essential ingredients to most worthwhile leisure pursuits. Our mission statement places great emphasis on developing leadership skills in all our learners. In the different phases, our curriculum is designed to that learners are afforded opportunities to take responsibility for different aspects of school life.

𝗢𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 🌟

Grade 11 learners Owami Madladla and Karabo Malekana attended the 61st Annual Youth Leadership Course, hosted by the Rotary Club of Port Shepstone, from 27 September to 3 October.

Joining 68 Grade 11 learners from across the province, Owami and Karabo took part in a week of leadership development, teamwork, networking and skills-based activities. The programme included team-building challenges, entrepreneurship and business sessions, personal development, sports, creative activities and community outreach, including a beach clean-up and a visit to Genesis Hope.

Adding to the programme was our very own Mr Garth Jackson, who presented a session on Artificial Intelligence, giving the learners an opportunity to explore the role of AI and its applications in the modern world.

A key lesson for Karabo was that leadership is not about “me”, but about “we”, with Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self”, highlighting the importance of leading through service and supporting others.

The week gave Owami and Karabo the chance to grow in confidence, make new friends and learn valuable leadership skills that they can use in their everyday lives and share with the wider school community.

Congratulations to Nate Beekman on his selection to participate in the Under 15 KZN Tennis Trials in Gauteng on 9 and 10 October.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase his talent and compete for selection to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the Inter-Provincial tournament in January 2027.

We are proud to see Nate representing Creston College and the Ugu District at this level.

We wish him the very best for the trials!

𝗕𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 🏍️

What an incredible achievement by Boyce Wilkinson, at the legendary Roof of Africa in Lesotho! The three-day hard enduro event tested riders against brutal mountain terrain and some of the toughest conditions in the sport.

Boyce showed incredible skill, endurance and determination from start to finish. His results were impressive:

Time Trial: 10th

Day 2: 11th – with only 15 of the 92 Silver Class riders finishing

Day 3: 9th

After three gruelling days, Boyce finished 11th overall out of 92 riders in the Silver Class. His consistency across the event, particularly on the notoriously demanding second day, is a fantastic reflection of his determination and ability.

𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟯 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 ⚽

It was a morning of football, fun and plenty of excitement as our Under 13 boys took on a combined team of High School learners and coaches. The match brought plenty of energy to the field, with the boys enjoying the challenge of playing against some familiar faces from the staff and high school learners. There was plenty of skill, friendly competition and, of course, a few laughs along the way.

It was a great opportunity for our Under 13 boys to showcase their skills, enjoy the game and build team spirit.
