Join us in congratulating Kidesh Rajcoomar on his promotion to Junior Lecturer: Financial Reporting & Compliance.

We are delighted to have him join our academic team and look forward to the expertise and enthusiasm he will bring to our students and colleagues. We asked Kidesh a few questions to help us get to know him better:

🔵 What does your new position involve, and what are you most excited about stepping into it?
"I will now be solely involved with Financial Reporting and Taxation modules in the undergraduate department. In my personal academic journey, these are modules that I enjoyed the most, and I am quite excited to now be lecturing it."

🔵 Tell us a bit about your academic and professional journey so far?
"Academically, it was quite a ride. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Kwa-ZuluNatal, and my post-graduate studies were done through Milpark (CA Connect), which was something I didn’t think I was capable of completing. The latter journey, which ran concurrently with my articles at BDO South Africa has absolutely changed my life, and what resulted was an attitude of discipline, diligence and a drive to always give my absolute best. I placed fourth in the 2024 PGDA cohort and passed both SAICA Board Exams on my first attempt. This CA(SA) journey has completely shifted my mindset from self-doubt, to one of relentless belief, because as humans, our potential is only limited by our thoughts. After my SAICA articles at BDO, I transitioned into the academic space as an assistant lecturer at Milpark Education, and now I count myself blessed and fortunate to now be serving as a Junior Lecturer in the Financial Reporting and Compliance Team."

🔵 How do you hope to make a meaningful impact on your students in this new role?
"Through mistakes which I made during my personal learning journey. I am aware of the pitfalls and mistakes of students, because I was one not so long ago. I will use these past experiences and lessons which I have learnt to shape the manner in which serve as a Lecturer to these students. Resilience, perseverance and self-belief. These are 3 things which I developed after faltering the first time in my academic journey. And these are the same tools which I will aim to sharpen in our students."
