Nottingham Road Village Creating Tourism in the Midlands It is also 1½ hours from the southern and central Drakensberg and only 3½ hours from Johannesburg.

The village of Nottingham Road lies in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal midlands approximately 40 minutes from the capital, Pietermaritzburg and 1¼ hours from Durban. The area enjoys warm summer seasons (with a bit of rain) and cold winters with the chance of experiencing snowfalls during winter. The area is well known for dairy farming, horse stud farms, fly fishing, crafters, artists and sculptors

and the home cottage industry. The area also boasts a number of well known spa’s, hotels and fine dining establishments. The village also has a golf course which is widely recognised by the golfing fraternity as excellent and challenging. There is also a further four golf courses within a 45 minute drive of the village. The locale is also home to some top private schools - Michaelhouse and Clifton. The area hosts a number of nationally recognised events during the year including the Midmar Mile swim and the Wildfly Corporate Fly Fishing Challenge which boasts prizes to the value of over one million rand and obviously a number of equestrian events. Another weekly event is the Craft market held at the Nottingham Road landowners Association
Fort Nottingham, the original fort is still standing and is a legacy to the beginnings of Nottingham Road.
