She has self-funded her Pre-School Teacher qualifications and run the school as a non-profit organisation with very little funding. Thandanani Pre-School is a Non-Profit Organisation which offers early childhood education for children in the very rural village of Lutshini, Mngcibe, Wild Coast, South Africa. The school receives no funding from government. Thandanani Pre-school was started by Pholel
wa Maqinyana during 2015 and has been running from a very basic structure from one of the local residant homes. Currently there is a demand for approximately 85 children to attend this pre-school, but unfortunately there is only space for 27 children. The village community centre is in the process of being completed and the pre-school will then temporarily move there until such time as a pre-scool building can be built. The pre-school has minimal equipment and the teacher and her assistant does not earn an income from this much needed service they supply the community. Their goal is to also be able to provide these children with two healthy meals per day. Parents will be required to make a small contribution and assist with the preparation of meals and clean-up. Payment of school fees are impossible for many parents as there are no employment opportunities in this very rural area. The pre-school is in the process of registering as a Non-Profit Organisation to enable them to apply for funding and benefits from the Department of Social Development. This is an extremely tedious and timeous process and the need for education and care for these children is immediate. For this reason we are approaching the private sector to ask for any form of assistance which will benefit our pre-school and children. We will welcome and appreciate any form of donation or physical contribution anyone has to offer. Class Room(s) ±60m²
