As promised, the soccer fixture against Ferrum High School was a day of good sportsmanship and healthy competition.

Grade 12 Consumer Studies Practical Examination

There were delicious aromas filling the halls of our school today and the chefs responsible were none other than our grade 12 Consumer studies students.

We are all so impressed with the dishes that were put forward today and would like to thank Mrs P Naicker for all the work she has put in to get our students ready for this practical.

A huge thank you to Itec Newcastle, BB Bakeries, Boss Auto Repairs and our NHS old boys for your support and belief in our Rugby team.

The Alexforbs Battleboards Chess Championship is an annual online proctured chess championship in which 32 schools per province compete to win.

The format is split into provincial and national stages wherein out of 32 schools, the top 5 make it to nationals in a group stage and knockout round for both provincial and national.

For the provincial level in KZN, our chess team took part in on the 16th of May and failed to make it through the knockout, however we did win the prestige category.

The team then had a second chance on the 25th of July when they had wild card qualifiers wherein schools from anywhere in South Africa could compete across a second qualifier for 8 spots to nationals. Newcastle High succeeded in getting through this and qualifying for finals, joining around the 45 or so schools that had made it.

Nationals were then split into group stages and knockouts, which would have been the top 16. We placed 3rd in the group stages

Congratulations to each team member who took part. We are so proud of each and every one of you.

The Tigers are coming to Durban!!!

Congratulations to Phiwokuhle Dube, Sphesihle Khaba and Sbongakonke Ndlovu who have been drafted and selected to participate in the 2026 Durban Premier League Hockey

- Phiwokuhle Dube - u16 Raptors
- Sphesihle Khaba - u16 All Stars (This is his second year playing in the DPL)
- Sbongakonke Ndlovu - u18 Raptors
