Its the day of the exam! How do you make sure it is productive and stress is minimal?
· Set an alarm and have a back-up alarm (whether that's another alarm clock or a person willing to make sure you're up)
· Eat a filling and nutritious breakfast
· Double-check you've got everything you need for the day
· Have a back-up plan for how you're going to get to the exam, just in case your normal transport plan goes pear-shaped
· Stay calm and focused. Use deep breathing and don't let other people's nervousness and insecurity get to you. Don't talk about the exam or how much revision you've done to your friends, it won't help your chances of success or your friendship

Key dates:
· October 30: English is the first exam paper for the Class of 2023
· December 5: Last day of NSC exams
· January 18 2024: The exam results will be announced by the minister of basic education
· January 19: Provincial release of exam results.

LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Greetings to our parents and learners

As we are about to enter into the final stretch I would like to wish everyone the very best of success for the upcoming examinations.
Please take note of the following arrangements for the duration of the exams:

-All sessions begin at 08:00. Learners are expected to be seated in their venues by 07:30 each day they write.
-All grade 8 and 9 sessions end at 10:00 – please make arrangements for them to be collected immediately after the session.
-Grade 10 and 11 sessions are dependent on the time allocated for the specific paper – please consult the exam timetable.

Should a learner arrive late for a session, there will be a 15-minute time penalty applied for that specific paper.

Normal school rules will apply during this period meaning uniform and dress code must be maintained.

I wish to urge parents and guardians that transport arrangements must be made to get learners off the premises and surrounding areas as soon as possible. They need to be at home preparing for their next exams.

We are extremely proud of each of you for the adults that you have become and we know that what you have been taught at DNC Senior Secondary School the traditions and values that inspired you will be the catalysts that rocket you into a future that we will be in awe of for the success you will make of your lives!

Good luck for your final exams and for the future that lies ahead! We will miss you but always remember you!

Report cards will be issued at the beginning of Term 3.
