Resilience is a key leadership skill. My wife and I recently fought a raging fire which rampaged across our property. With the help of neighbours, friends and local villagers, as well as fire fighters, we saved the buildings. With hindsight, I was amazed at the resilience shown by us,and our friends. We stayed up 48 hours initially, ever watchful, then finally put out the last flare ups 7 days later.
The cousin of resilience is commitment. Our friends and we ourselves, were totally committed.
Leaders need to build a close bond between members of the team. They need to believe in the goal. They need to know they are essential to achieving the goal. Once that is in place, when the going gets tough, the team will be resilient enough to overcome.....

One of th greatest things about reading is being transported to another place, and to journey with the author. I am reading this amazing autobiography at the moment.
It was gifted to me by an Indian man from Kashmir on my recent adventure in India.
I have taken much wisdom from Radhanath Swami, an American who went in search of God, around how to be at peace, even when there is turmoil around us, how to trust the process of life.

I have just returned from a weekend in which the lives of 18 teens has been positively impacted by the work of some dedicated men and other teens who took them through a transformational and sometimes challenging process. When I am living through my purpose, i feel in focus and flow. My heart was wide open and the experience was so great. We easily crossed age, racial and cultural boundaries. We worked hard and were rewarded with huge smiles and changed faces from scowls of mistrust into warm, open, loving beings. What a privilege!
