The ‘Reading with Meaning’ programme at WA Rossouw School is going from strength to strength!
Earlier this year, 41 grade 4 learners who were part of the 2024 ‘Reading for Meaning’ program, were re-assessed to measure their literacy improvement.
We are very pleased to announce that 37% of learners who were initially in the ‘letter’ level group progressed to ‘word’ level. From the ‘paragraph group, 31% moved up to ‘story’ reading level.
Even though the Montagu Cares ‘Reading for Meaning’ volunteers can’t take all the credit for this achievement, it certainly indicates that we are on the right track! Thank you to WA Rossouw for fully embracing this project as well as a huge thank you to our committed and passionate volunteers who show up every week!
