MOULANA GUNNED DOWN IN LENTEGEUR AS RAMADAN BEGINS

The Muslim community is reeling following the tragic killing of Moulana Mustaqeem Wanza, a respected religious leader whose life was marked by service, humility and dedication to the Deen.

In a statement released on Facebook, Aswaatul Islam expressed deep sorrow at his loss, describing him as a guiding light whose presence and kindness touched countless lives.

According to reports, Moulana Mustaqeem had been returning from the mosque where he had just led Taraweeg prayers as the Muslim community commenced the holy month of Ramadan. It is understood that he was shot in Candytuft Street in Lentegeur and was declared dead on the scene.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” the statement read, as the organisation conveyed condolences to his family, students and the broader Muslim community.

The timing of his death has deepened the pain felt by many, as Ramadan is traditionally a period of spiritual renewal, unity and increased worship.

The organisation reminded the community that while people make plans, the decree of Allah is above all.

With no confirmed motive surrounding the shooting, Aswaatul Islam urged the public to refrain from speculation, hearsay and the sharing of unverified information on social media. Instead, they called on the community to honour his memory through du’a and support for his grieving loved ones.

Prayers have poured in from across the country, with many asking Allah to grant him the highest ranks in Jannah, forgive his shortcomings and accept his efforts as a continuous reward.
