Back in Cape Town, with so much to sort out, I almost feel I should have stayed in L.A. Almost......I said.... The work began a long time ago, now it is beginning to take more shape, soon it will gather it's own speed. So the best thing is to enjoy every moment.
So it is my last few hours in Santa Monica, later the red eye flight to New York, find contacts to go through and about twenty calls to do before leaving. Have you ever had the feeling that there is just so much up in the air that you don't know which way to step.....just in case a piece falls on your head. Well, that is what it is, now to begin to splice it all together.
Hey Last yesterday extended into the 'wi' hours of the morning, and then some so asking me how the heck am I up and blitzing to get running, can only be the result of me feeling good about being here at AFM. It's like I want to get moving once again, as today it is all time to pack up, I feel there is always time to enjoy these final AFM hours.
Up early this morning and really enjoying the AFM, wish me luck as I take on another day here at the American Film Market in Santa Monica LA
It is going well here at AFM Santa Monica, I am feeling good about certain developments, and chasing down a few more leads. Making good friends and learning a hell of a lot. Finally meeting some more South Africans who have made there way here and even though there is very little time to talk, because we all here to work our buts off to make the best of the experience we still get to talk on the fly as we pass each other in the corridors.
Well I have found some time to tell you what is happening, today was another day of introductions, meet and greet and getting in every bodies line of site. It has begun to show signs of good interest as 'Emeritus' starts to make it's presence known. I could have had a little extra help but not to worry, it will be what it is. Tomorrow the meetings begin with the longest one scheduled to take two and a half hours, this is serious stuff. I am chuffed. Some have read the synopsis and have come to compliment me, which is a good feeling. The screenplay has also been requested twice so far. More scheduled meetings for Monday and Tuesday, and there is still plenty of space to fill. Will I crack it at the market, or will I only pick up a deal after the market? Stay tuned as I wait in anticipation!
Up early, first conferences today, early up, breakfast at the Fairmont on Wilshire Avenue, in Santa Monica. Yesterday went well, only two outright, no thank you, not interested, balanced by over two hundred interested parties. Still plenty of work to do.
