Grade R school in Dunoon At Ubunye Educare we believe that early preparation and a hunger for education is a key to change in impoverished communities.
The school is a non-fee paying school and therefore relies on the generosity of donors who support our vision. Our approach to learning and teaching is through child centered play and education. We enable the children to learn while engaging with each other and enhancing both their gross and fine motor skills. With a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, imaginative play and physical activities, our staff will engage with your children.

Easter arts and craft at Ubunye Educare Centre. Through arts and craft, children learn to value and appreciate artifacts and images across cultures and times. They learn to act and think like designers and artists, working intelligently and creatively. Well done to all our learners.
Our learners had so much fun wearing two different shoes to school. Thank you to all our parents and staff for helping us to make this a big success.
Well done parents!! 20 parents graduated on the 26th of March 2022. This was the biggest group we had since we started the Wordworks Home school Parent Programme in 2017. This year we opened it up to the crèche teachers in the Dunoon community and they accepted with open arms. Thank you, to all those individuals who made this day extra special for all our graduates👩🎓✨
Congrats to all our parents, who completed the Wordworks HSPP (Home school Parent Programme). We are very proud of your achievements. Thank you to our facilitators, as well as our parents, for all their sacrifices, to make this programme a big success.👏👏Well done!!
We urge parents to make use of this opportunity to register for grade one for next year. To register your child at Ubunye Educare Centre for 2023, no need to register online. You can come to school with your child's birth certificate, Clinic card and your ID. It is always our pleasure to chat to our parents during the registration process. We hope to see you soon😊
Our Word works Parent programme, Sessions 5 and 6, took place on Tuesday 8 March @ 13h30. Thank you to our Facilitators for a job well done. The parents had so much fun👏👏👍
We are fast approaching the end of term one and our external assessments is on the way. Assessments is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether or not the goals of education are being met. It inspire us to ask these hard questions: "Are we teaching what we think we are teaching?
Ubunye is celebrating World Book Day and the theme for this year is "you are a reader". 📖 One book at a time📚 Who doesn't ♥️ a good story.
The ants go marching one by one hurrah hurrah
The ants go marching two by two hurrah hurrah
The ants go marching three by three
The little one stops to climb a tree
And they all go marching
And they all go marching
Down to the ground
To get out of the rain
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM
On Fridays, we have music and movement for all four classes. They like to boogey, they like to bob, they like to turn around just like this. A BIG thank you to our assistant teachers for making this activity so much fun for them.
Our learners could enjoy a refreshing bottle of water after their free-play, all thanks to the Peninsula School Feeding Association. Thank you, from all of us at Ubunye Educare Centre🙏🙏
Thank you, to all our parents and teachers, for helping us to create a special Valentine's day for our learners. They had so much fun❤️❤️
Class 1 is ending off their week with story time. Outside is perfect if the classroom is too hot📚
We are very excited to see all our parents next week Tuesday. We ask that all parents make a conservative effort to attend the meeting. Just a reminder to all parents, to please mask up.
One of our first fun activity for 2022 is waterplay. Water play releases energy, it can be both relaxing and calming for young children. It increases their ability to concentrate on one activity when presented as a tranquil and repetitive activity (scooping, pouring and running their hands through the water). Gentle water play allows them to unwind, order their thoughts and relax. They had so much fun👏👏
A Warm welcome to our 2022 Grade R learners. May this year be as fun, exciting and full of life as you are. We want to wish you all the best.💙
Thank you, to all the brave parents and donors who made a speech at the graduation. Your words were very heart warming and inspiring👏
Graduating class of 2021. To our graduates, never doubt yourselves, because you were born to do great things! We want to wish our learners all the best for grade 1.
