We asked our Managing Director, Amanda, what the best thing about managing H18 Foundation is, she said:

We thank our amazing community for making this endearing Easter Basket initiative a reality again this year! A few kind-hearted ladies from the Milnerton Public Library knitting club and a handful of committed residents from Milnerton Ridge: NW Members & Residents knitted/crocheted 445 of these gorgeous little baskets to gift to young children at the Brooklyn Chest hospital, Peace Home Safe Haven, ECD centres in Brooklyn and Phoenix, Mana Preschool and where possible vulnerable children and elderly folk supported by our local community kitchens✨🐣🧺🍬
Each basket was filled with two yummy marshmallow eggs together with a Happy Easter message sent with love ❤️ we are super grateful to all our amazing volunteers and sponsors who made this possible 🐇
A special note of thanks goes out to all our individual donors for the cash donations received and Sorbet Paddocks Print-Tag Rotary Club of Blouberg Milnerton Methodist Church for the generous contributions of marshmallow eggs 🌈

In honor of Mandela Day 2021, we have partnered with Legacy Collection and Sharon B Design, to raise awareness for the need of Early Childhood Development (ECD) in South Africa.
The essence of Mandela Day is to take action and . Heeding this call to action, a poignant Mandela watercolor drawing called FREEDOM is being auctioned in support of Mana Preschool, an ECD program for underserved children in the South African township of Joe Slovo Park. Mana Preschool was founded to support the female workers affiliated with H18 Foundation. Through H18, these mothers receive craft skills training and sustainable income generation. Mana Preschool and H18 Foundation are co-located.
This piece measures 20.47 x 28.34 inches and is framed in white wood. Painted in beautifully muted watercolors and framed with gold foil, the piece includes a bit of the original fencing from Robben Island.

🌺 Mecksure “Mecky” Banda has designed our crocheted purse and hat coming in the summer edition of Mana Boxes. The Mana Boxes family calls the crochet bag, the Mecky Bag after her. Mecky is one of the women benefitting from the work of the H18 Foundation, founded in South Africa to uplift, empower and upskill unemployed women - including those living in informal settlements - more than 150 women have been empowered through H18. Their core skills training is the art of crocheting. Another force for change within the foundation that is also supported by our Mana Boxes project is the newly-opened Mana Preschool.
