H1N1 VIRUS
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please note that two of our learners and one of our educators have tested positive for the H1N1(swine flue) virus, which is very contagious. We ask again that learners are not sent to school with flue like symptoms, or fevers and that medical treatment is sought for them.
If we do phone you from school please collect your sick child immediately as the infection does spread to other learners and staff.
Please stay warm and healthy this winter.

Our apologies but the school will close at 12:00 today, due to a memorial service that staff will be attending. We only received the invitation late yesterday afternoon and apologise again for the short notice.

NOTICE – SPORTS DAY THURSDAY

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Tomorrow, Thursday, 11 June 2026, marks the opening of the FIFA World Cup, with South Africa taking on Mexico in the opening match! 🇿🇦⚽

To celebrate and show our support for Bafana Bafana, Noordwyk Primary School will be having a Sports Thursday. Learners are welcome to wear their Bafana Bafana jerseys or any sports jersey or sportswear they already own.

Please note:

* Parents are not expected to purchase any new clothing. We encourage learners to make use of what they already have.
* This remains a normal school day, and learners will continue with their Cycle Tests and revision as scheduled.
* School will dismiss at 13:00, and parents are reminded to make the necessary transport arrangements.
* No payment is required for this event.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: SICK LEARNERS

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We kindly request your cooperation in helping us maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for all learners and staff.

The school has experienced a significant increase in learners arriving while visibly unwell, with common complaints including headaches, tummy aches, nosebleeds, and flu-like symptoms. Unfortunately, this places other learners and staff at risk of becoming ill and places considerable pressure on the school’s office, which is unable to manage the growing influx of sick learners throughout the day.

Parents are therefore requested to:

* Keep Foundation Phase learners at home when they are sick so that they can focus on recovering before returning to school.
* Ensure that Intersen Phase learners who become ill are collected by 10:00, to prevent prolonged discomfort and the spread of illness.
* Collect their child immediately after receiving a call from the school informing them that their child is unwell.
* Provide a face mask for learners who are experiencing flu-like symptoms and must attend school.
* Seek appropriate medical attention for sick learners to assist with proper treatment, recovery, and to reduce the spread of illness to other learners and staff.
* Ensure their children receive multivitamins or other appropriate immune-supporting supplements, where suitable, to help support their immune systems.

Your cooperation is essential in protecting the wellbeing of our entire school community. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

NOTICE Re.: LONG WEEKEND

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please be informed that Monday, 15 June 2026 has been declared a Special School Holiday, and the school will therefore be closed.

Additionally, Tuesday, 16 June 2026 is Youth Day, a public holiday, and the school will also be closed.

School will resume as normal on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

We wish all our learners and families a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

What an incredible journey! Our Under 13 Soccer Team proudly represented the Midrand Cluster at the District Competition and finished in an outstanding 3rd place.

After an outstanding performance throughout the season, our boys have secured the Number 1 position in the Midrand Cluster and will now represent the Midrand Cluster at District Level on Saturday, 06 June 2026.

This achievement reflects the team’s hard work, discipline, determination, and excellent sportsmanship both on and off the field. We commend every player and coach who contributed to this remarkable success.

🥹🎉 Reitumetse Tlhoaele said, “I’m not just participating, I’m taking first place!” Provincial level, here she comes! 🚀🔬🏆

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our very own Reitumetse Tlhoaele from Grade 5C!

Reitumetse has achieved 1st Position among all Quintile 5 schools in the District Natural Sciences Olympiad and has successfully qualified to represent the district at Provincial Level.

This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to her dedication, hard work, curiosity, and passion for learning. We are honoured to see one of our learners excelling and flying the Noordwyk Primary School flag so proudly.
